Default Best COMPLETE ar 15 upper on market?

I was going to build my upper piece by piece, but decided id rather just buy the whole damn thing at once! been searching classifieds and these forums for a week now and cant figure out! got some good ideas from the SPR thread but it seems everyone is doing custom everything. i want to just buy the whole upper as one, then maybe change the charging handle and BCG, and install a giselle trigger in the lower.

This build is more for 300 yard shooting, not exactly a "recce" or "SPR"....but i do want a longer match grade barrel, and HIGH END COMPONENTS! im not going to put some 20x scope on it, but mostly like an aimpoint or trijicon with low zoom like 3x maybe...again, not sure exactly.

really want to do VLTOR upper but i would have to buy the barrel seperate i think....

maybe noveske afghan? Stag 3h? i really have no idea....the lower is a LMT with a MAGPUL UBR...

also i DONT want it to have the fixed iron sights on the front, i want it to be a straight upper that i can mount a MBUS on..

thanks in advance!

something like this....although i already have a STAG ar15 carbine...so i kind of want a different brand.

i really like the upper on this, but the barrel tip looks funny...

like this one too....the noveske recon might be my choice...but im a stickler id rather just put that on a noveske lower....BLARGH.

has anyone had issues matching a noveske upper to a LMT lower.....

not as far as i know, you'd need a barrel, bcg, and charging handle.

you could just get a complete noveske upper, seeing as vltor makes their stuff.

about the upper/lower question:

as long as they're all milspec, there should be absolutely no problem.

I'm not sure how to say this, but your criteria are all over the place. They aren't specific enough for us to make any targeted suggestions.

It looks like you have a larger amount of money to spend, and it looks like you want something capable of enough precision to shoot at targets 300 yards away. You may not be aware of this, but virtually any rifle can do that if it's not chambered in .22 LR.

Are there particular makes and models that you are considering, and want opinions about?

JP rifles are the absolute best AR uppers money can buy. they are far and away the most common uppers for 3Gun shooters who regularly must hit out to 300, 400 even 500 and 600 yards. i paid something like $1400 for my 18" JP upper.

Noveske also makes very good quality barrels and uppers.

Stag 3G upper is a wannabe JP, but alot cheaper, both in cost and quality.

I went with a Rainier Ultramatch, couldn't be happier. The sub 1/2 moa groups with factory match ammo speak for themselves.

Honestly though, if you're going to put an aimpoint on it, it's really pointless.

JP, Noveske, Larue were also on my short list.

go on ar15.com and look at gallery setups, you don't have enough info on what parts exist to make a decision at this point man, you have zero clue of anything at this point if you are posting pics of junk uppers like that first one.

I wouldn't exactly consider Magpul MBUS as "high end components".

Also, the Noveske upper you posted with the funny looking barrel tip is using a Battlecomp.

Rainier Arms, Noveske, Larue are some sites to check out first. What is your budget?

budget is under 1500 hopefully, yea the stag had wrongly mounted mbus but it was to get an idea...and yea im not too sure what to do hear, my first ar i just bought a complete and added optics and a few accesories.

i have the money to buy everything up front instead of peicing it together in a build...

thanks for the advice.

If you want precision, look no further unless your worried about not looking cool enough on the range.

Here ya go, VLTOR upper, no fixed front sight... If you must have a lower to match G&R tactical usually has some, Grant Is a good guy.

I own a CMMG Wasp Gas Piston upper with Century Arms C4 Diopters on a CMMG lower. I bought the upper for $599.99 out the door. Must say its a nice piece of hardware! I currently have 2 other AR builds that are STAG ARMS with DI uppers and STAG ARMS lowers, and I still love my CMMG. never fails!

Yea although that is no doubt the best complete rifle out right now..

I believe it's out dated and they need to make a belt fed version to keep up with the tactical reload and double tap demand

No such animal exists.

AR15 is a modular weapon that can be configured to serve a 1000 different roles. For each of those roles there are a hundred or more equally good manufactured off the rack ARs on the market. So there is no best of the best.

100% agree!

Only downside is their complete rifles have a tad bit of mark up and come sort of expensive. But still worth every penny. But those are top uppers in my build lists.

Love my BCM 16" mid

not always.

i decided my next rifle will be a noveske infidel with the switchblock and VIS. i priced it all out separately and it came out about 200 bucks less than the complete upper from noveske. add pin/weld fees and it's almost a wash.

Get a Noveske 18" spr upper with the NSR it has the Vltor MUR upper and a match grade barrel already assembled.

Checkout Tier 1 arms he'll get one for you for a good price.

I'm not quite sure what your saying. I feel like we're either talking about 2 different things or agreeing on the same thing with different words..

I'm not talking about building an upper. I'm talking about building your own lower and buying a BCM upper comes out cheaper than buying a complete BCM rifle. But still can have the same quality and specs.

ooohhh, i was talking about building an upper. yeah, the lower does come out less if you don't go all buck wild with a trigger and ambi this and that.

Agreed there is really no such thing as "the best" but there are lots of choices. Your specs are a bit vague but check out Larue Tactical Stealth uppers. $1200, you can choose your barrel and handguard length, they're a great company, and top end in quality. Comes complete with BCG and standard charging handle.

I have a Larue Stealth 18" and it is amazing. The standard barrel finish is Ion Bond but you can request bead blasted stainless which is what I went with.

Got mine from GGG. LMT barrel and upper receiver. You will need to ad your BCG and CH though.

I just checked their website and don't see it listed anymore.

Forgot Larue :P hahaha. Ops, great guns.

Hubby had a heart attack when he saw the various BCM uppers arrive lol. Then that I put in for iphone5s for myself and our daughter :P

Waiting on some goods from Noveske. Honestly off shelf rifles, or built lowers+a complete upper? Its all good. My daughters going to use a BCM upper, but has a Noveske lower, she really really wants pink moe parts, if they don't come soon enough, she will be going for green from Magpul.

Hubs got rid of a bunch of his LWRC, two 590a1s, a t3 and grp, he's got a bcm upper on a riflegear lower, and another on a blem bcm lower :P haha.

Has gotten more use out of those 2 builds in the past week and a half then with his LWRC collection that just sat. He picked up 2 M&P pistols, one last month, one last week. He picked up a 870 Extac, and is going to pick up some kind of 870 from Wilson? Or was it Nighthawk 870, to keep at other house. Can't remember.

But in anycase, point is, built seems the nice way to go, so you can choose what you like, and also have something already assembled to throw on. Also, I acquire 7 different uppers from different sources they are diff lengths, and will be used for diff things like as loaner rifles, and or plinking, and shorter/lighter variants for home use.

Hubs freaked out about BCM wait till he sees Noveske stuff coming in :P

CK32: Yah, gets very very expensive, had saved for the last few months to get just uppers. But if its something you're ganna train with, then fight with? Quality is whats important to me, saving a few more dollars, and sacrificing quality isn't something I would do.

And off shelf rifles? I was told off by some guy at gun show that his uber tac, bargain built $600 rifle in a voodoo tac case can do anything say, a LMT upper I was buying, can do, and SAVE $ doing it lol. Right....lol.

Quality is the name of the game good to see someone else agrees.
