Default Walther HK MP5

Is the Walther MP5 still in production? I cant seem to find one at my LGSs. There's one in the market place but I really want the SD version.

SD is a bit difficult to find, but I believe still being produced. Try looking for an "Umerex MP5", the distributor.

IMO, get the 9mm version from Atlantic Firearms.

I looked on Atlantic. We're talking about a $500 vs a $2k rifle. Lol.

Going to go break my A5 out of jail today. Picking it up from big 5 in Palm Desert California. The clerk said they weren't going to care anymore but gave me a 10% discount for being display. So sounds like they're still on shelves at big 5

i've been looking for this exact rifle for awhile as well. riflegear in fountain valley just got a few in but to me it was a bit overpriced. however, it's local if you don't want to wait from buying online...if you don't mind waiting a few extra days i found a few other sites you can purchase from that had better pricing. pm me and i'll give you the info.

They are still in production, but they always go scarce this time of year. Even the A5 model. I ended up buying a display model as none of the other local Turners had them in stock.

If you are patient, I'm sure they'll come back in stock sometime in the first quarter of next year.

EDIT: I'd also recommend calling the shops around you that normally carry them. I just hope the clerk doesn't confuse it with a GSG or know the difference between the SD and A5 before you drive down there.

I know they are the exact same rifles but the A5 looks weird with the "suppressor" the SD looks more uniform, if that makes sense. I'm not in a rush, so I can wait until they are back in stock.

I can see why you prefer the SD version. The A5 didn't bother me and I had intensions of upgrading the rail. Attached a pics so you get another perspective of the A5 upgraded.

I bought the A5. After a year later the only bad point is the folding stock. Its been replaced with a solid, and is better balanced.

Didnt even consider the other versions. The original MP5 style is hard to beat, and the rest is covering the barrel and unneeded rails and tubes.

Yeah, its a .22lr. Yeah, it costs $$$ more than 90% of other .22lr.
But this thing is comfortable, built extremely well, and is accurate as heck.

For regular use, I have only two complaints.
The retractable stock is loose, uncomfortable, and too short.
Looks cool when collapsed, but hard to use accurately. There is no happy switch, so no point trying to use it like an Uzi. The A5 is very accurate. So having a well balanced, longer stock will complement real use.

Second, why the heck is .22lr so scarce, and so expensive?
I can buy quality 9mm rounds at the same price as crap .22lr rounds. What the heck? Im very surprised that the worst part of owning this rifle is the lack of ammo to put through it. Good news is that it will take anything you run through it, IME.
