If we can't get a dumpster, a couple of stake beds or dual axle trailers could work for a solid cleanup. I live 10 minutes away and am willing to bring tools and a truck to help. We should get this done before the temps skyrocket.

It was pretty clean last Saturday afternoon. A few piles of spent shot shells and a piece of wood here and there, and pumpkins on the rocks. Not bad at all!

I have been on the phone this week with BLM and Riverside County and we have a date for a clean up now.

There is no money in BLM's budget for a dumpster nor is there a dumpster full of trash there butt.... there is a clean up about 3 miles away that Riverside County and a couple other agencys are doing and Riverside County is going to bring a couple stake bed trucks and haul our trash to the dumpsters 3 miles away.

We will gather the trash up in bags and make some piles in a couple locations and load the stake beds when they come.

The range will be cold that morning and BLM rangers will be there to make sure of that. Previous clean ups have taken aprox 4 or so hours and a few of us have stayed to plink after.

There is a lot of little stuff spread out all over the place so it will take a bunch of bodies to make a dent so please spread the word and bring some friends if you can.

if we arent sure about our ability to come out to the cleanup, would we be able to show up outside of the roster? Its things like this that are like a way of showing the land the appreciation she deserves

Sure you can, the list is so we have a good idea of how big the turnout will be.

Are there any tools in particular we should bring? I assume gloves, rakes, shovels, trash bags etc. I have a chain saw I could bring for any large wooden objects.

Rake, shovel, pitch fork, gloves is great. Most stuff is pretty small and tore up from being shot at. BLM has brought lots of trash bags in the past so I am sure they will again.

The list is getting large for only being open a coupile days..... This is great!

I am uncertain if I will be able to make this. I want to though. I always enjoy a good cleanup AND this is certainly closer than Bee Canyon by about 30 minutes.

There is a garden tour that we were supposed to participate in on Saturday/Sunday but we decided to make that sunday instead so that we could help in a garage sale on Saturday. Maybe I will send my other half to the garage sale and I will go to this cleanup. I will see if I can bring a friend too.

Ron you wanna make it an event? Let's bring some powder/primers/bullets we can part with and swap stuff! :O

It can be a Cleanup/Component swap... :O
I can bring the moonshine! Clink, plink and drink!

BTW, I noticed that there might be a new trend happening there. It seems that at some ranges I noticed that people would rake up garbage and old targets and leave them sitting in piles near the road. So they can make a tidy pile of trash, but they can not transport it out... Just saying what I saw.

Hit and miss.

Sometimes it is packed, other times it is dead.

We were there about a week ago on a saturday and there was only a handful of folks there and the typical brassrat in his jeep scurrying all over.

Better than leaving everything all over the mountain, but not much!

Maybe they do it for the brass rat in the jeep?

Yeah, it is a STEP in the right direction...

But not if the rangers decide it is still garbage... At least the rangers seem pretty decent around here. I have not had any complaints with them or even at bee canyon.

It is looking like a 93% that I will be there also.

I found the pictures of the clean up from August 25, 2012 on the BLM web site. Looks like there was a fire out there. I'll see everyone on April 27.

Yes, there was a fire there, but it was by someone not affiliated with our group. He had been told by numerous people not to shoot where he was, but he did and his round (s) hit a rock (s) and started the fire.

He took off, but they caught him down the road. The rangers said he would probably get the bill. By the number of fire rigs and manpower that came, along with the chopper doing multiple water drops, I imagine it was a big bill.

I'm going to do the best I can to be there again. I would think I will be recovered from the knee surgery by then.
