We are almost ready to start production on FACTORY NEW .223 and .308 fmj . Our new company will be called " Crooked River Ammo" We will be loading with factory new federal brass with our headstamp and factory new federal or speer 55 gr or 62 gr fmj. Our 308 will be loaded with factory new Lake City brass with sealed primers and probably 147 gr or 150 gr federal or speer bullets. Our open prices for .223 will be around $375 per 1000 rnds for the first 100,000 rounds as an introductory price for our grand opening. The price will go to current market value after that. We have not determined the price yet on the 308 but we do know that we will have about 100,000 rnds available for purchase in a couple months. We operate on a first come first serve basis and we are taking orders as of today. We will be more than happy to send yoiu some test samples if you are interested in bulk purchases. Congrats and best of luck...
A few questions: (1.) Will these rounds be loaded to NATO 5.56 pressures/velocities, or just those for SAAMI 223? (2.) As for the 62gr bullet composition: is it M855 w/steel penetrator, or just a conventional FMJ bullet architecture? (Actually, I'd be hoping for the latter, for better accuracy.) I am not trying to "dis" you but I will say $375 for 1K rounds is a bit more than a high price, at least for 55gr FMJ ammo. 1K rounds of Fed AE and Win white box can be had for $285-$295 area...

$375 is just too high from a new, totally unknown ammo company. You can get Black Hills Red Box for that. To say nothing of other proven vendors such as PMC, FED, REM and WIN that are about $300/1k. Nonetheless, welcome to the market, we can always use more ammo vendors! Good luck with your venture. Last edited by luvtolean; 05-31-2007 at 2:47 PM.. |

Actually when I first saw this post I thought it was somebodys idea of a joke.
"Crooked river ammo" and taking pre-orders.... Oh well, at least he's offering samples... trouble is to be certain, you need a sample of a batch run off of the machinery etc.that will be used in production otherwise youre just getting load runs from an unknown source. Verification and authenticity will of course be the order of the day here. No disrespect meant but as the man said... trust but verify.I wouldnt want to get caught up in a Nigerian ammo scheme. Ouch.. I thought I was the one who said lets give this guy a chance... OK, lets see some product. Last edited by bridgeport; 05-31-2007 at 4:50 PM.. |

I would very much like to support a company making ammo in California (if that's the case), but the product has to be fairly competitive in price and performance. If you're basically offering Am Eagle (fed bullets, fed brass) but it's ~25% more expensive, I'd find the purchase pretty hard to justify.

Gents,
The best source for your .223 and .308 needs is Ammo Brothers, Darren and Dustin are licenced ammo manufacturers. They are now producing the forementioned calibers for significantly less than this operation is posting. I pay $275-280 for 1k of the 62gr SS109. Their number is 562-865-3980. Thanks, USMCM16A2. |

They are producing SS109? This thread is about in house manufactured ammo. Lets talk about their AMMO. I was at the range with my uncle and he was shooting some of their 40 S+W reloads in his H+K, luckily I noticed that his gun sounded strange after a shot. We took a look and the bullet had not exited the barrel. No powder charge. Last edited by tankerman; 06-01-2007 at 6:43 AM.. |

tankerman,
They do stand behind there product 100% and will take it back if you have problems with it. Me personally I have used there 9mm, 45acp, 357, 223 and 308 and never had a problem. I never chronoed anything but when I use there stuff I'm not trying to shoot a match, I'm just plinking. With the 308 and 223 I heard bang and ping every time I pulled the trigger (well maybe not ping every time if I screwed up and didn't hit the metal plate). |

With all due respect, your" open prices" are already higher than "market value".

I thought there are some rules that members need a MINIMUM post count before they can sell stuff?
This GUY should at least post some pictures of the *product*.... and the source.... and if he/she is the actual reloader... PLEASE post pic of your reloading equipements.... This whole thing smell so fishy.... - no reputation here on this board - certainly don't KNOW this market (current prices) - no references at all - pre-order - etc......... PS. I'd LOVED to see YOUR HEADSTAMP, CRA...... oh... please post your BUSINESS ADDRESS too, we'll get some arfcom's LE members/contacts to go check out the location.....

Did anyone email whoop223 about samples, and did you get a response? I'd hesitate to order from an unknown company "about ready" to start production, even if the prices were competitive.
Apparently RR just pasted this here and moved on, he's been advertising this same ad word for word on Gunbroker for weeks as whoop308 out of Redmond, Oregon where he runs/ran Centermass Tactical. |

Since we ultimately rely on our common sense and judgement when making decisions on purchases, I don't see too much purpose in the minimum post count. Besides, it would only delay them a day as they post 13 question and then go back to reply to them to achieve the minimum post count..
As fo the seller.. forget buying ammo or getting free samples.. I wouldn't even give them my personal information.. |
