Russian Rifle + Swiss Alpenflage = confusing.

that being said, hot chick, nice gun!

the SVT looks really long in that pic, is it closer to the 91/30 or the m44 in length?

It is an INSAS. Surprised it is on issue to a local militia.

No, it's not. There is more than one reason it may be necessary for her to close it, made more likely by gender differences in eye dominance patterns:

(1) In WWII I believe everyone was taught to shoot right-handed, regardless of either eye or hand dominance. If she is left-eye dominant, she probably can't shoot any other way at all and is not permitted to shoot of the left shoulder. Whether or not it was required my father shoots off his strong-hand, weak-eye side and simply cannot shoot without the left eye being blocked one way or the other.

(2) Women, as well as children, apparently tend to be much less dominant in one eye or the other than men. Really strong dominance appears to be a feature of male puberty. Further, not all men have a dominant enough eye to shoot with both open. For example, while I am sightly right-eye dominant and so technically I shoot off the strong side for both eye and hand, II very nearly do not have a dominant eye at all. (So much so that it took me a long time to even be sure I understood the tests because I could get different results on successive trys. I wasn't seeing what the tests assume I will see.) If my left eye didn't have slightly worse vision I would sight with it as well as from the right (I'm right-handed, however, which would present a different obstacle).

Anyway, this sort of thing is more likely for women. If she is dominant but not totally dominant in the right eye, indeterminantly dominant, or center-visioned, she may either need to close the left eye to eliminate the double-vision or just shoot better without the distraction.

This appears to be an important gap in the shooting advice we usually give women.

Sorry, I would need to ask her before I posted this picture with her face clear… but this was around Christmas in her grandparent’s orchard. I think it is my favorite picture of her… wearing my jacket holding one of my best looking C&R rifles…

P.S. IBTL… it is only a matter of time before this gets out of hand

Hey now! I started this thread almost two years ago and it hasn't been shut down yet. That's because crufflers are a high-class lot. (And NRAhighpowershooter is quick on the DELETE POST button )

Now back to our regularly scheduled program...

Oh wow! I didn’t look at the dates on this thing. This is an old one back from the grave yard. Let’s hope it stays tasteful…
