Default Bushnell Tactical TRS-32 ( Pics Added )

Galgunners,

Was at Wally world yesterday and ran across a markdown deal on a bushnell TRS-32 for $129 and decided to pick it up. After getting home and doing a few searches for reviews and other "junk", I cannot find ANY information on this red dot sight anywhere. It looks like an aimpoint comp c3 btw.

Is it a new item, discontinued?

If you have a link to any reviews, that would be a huge plus.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I can't pull up anything on it either. What is the product code on the box? Bushnell usually has around a 6 digit product code.

Looks pretty legit with the same logo on the website. A 5 MOA dot is kinda big, isn't it?

Heard back from Bushnell. That is a brand new model that just came out this year. Looks like you got your hands on it before most. Bushnell had to double check that it had been 'released'.

Thanks for the head up on this. I have decided that the 5 moa dot was too big and took it back. Liked the quality of it though.

I just checked it out at Walmart and as an Aimpoint PRO owner, this looks like a decent alternative for someone on a tight budget build. It's definitely not as stout as the Aimpoint, but from what I can tell, it looks pretty solid for $130.

I've heard bushnell has bought out some other companies recently, and is marketing a lot of new products in arenas they havent being competitive before.

Brother said he spent $1,300-1400? on a new bushnell and I dropped my jaw going "wha????? bushnell?????"

Apparently their new 'tactical elites' are full featured high quality scopes where 1300 is not a bad price for that type of product. Look at the competition- nightforce/uso/loopy mkIV/schmidt&bender.... all the sudden that bushy is a bargain.

That red dot, I agree, 5moa is a bit large.... but the price sounds good. If they release a 2-3 moa dot version I'd give one a try.

Still no info about this on Bushnell website. I'm curious about how this would compare against the Strikefire.

I had both at the time and ended up keeping the strikfire. Smaller moa dot and I liked the battery life and available accessories over the bushnell. Oh and the ability to switch between the green and red dot on the strikfire was a huge plus.

Nice to hear that I didn't buy a "close-out"! I mounted it on my Windham Weaponry SRC, went out and sighted it in. From the factory took about 1-½ turns to bring the POI up to POA @ 50 yards. About ¾ a turn to bring it back to right and center. About 9 rounds with the last 3 in a short span to see if it kept it's POI. Certainly not a real test. But, for a plinker and farm gun... good enough! So far.

Still no info on Bushnell's website.

Thanks for that. Is there any way to tell if other sights have such color distortions? I never saw any mention of it in any reviews and I don't want to buy any more like that again.

Red dot (LED based reflective technology) sights with no magnification will always have this coating. The reason is because it helps contrast the dot from the sight picture, making it appear brighter. Without it, it will tend to wash out in bright conditions. The Eotechs are the only ones that I know of (laser based, holographic technology) that have a completely clear window with no color coating. The reticle is bright enough to not need it.

I say this generally....there might be one or two out there that dont have color, but I know they are very abnormal if they exist at all.

^ 100% correct, for Red Dots yes, for Scopes no. Leupold makes a scope that is clear as day, best glass in the industry, that has a illuminated dot.

Check out the Leupold Firedot line of scope.

Its funny you mention that scope.....I looked at one at sportsmans warehouse and I had a completely different impression. To me, it felt extremely difficult to get your head in a position to where you had optimal sight picture. Any deviation from perfect cheek weld severely darkened the edge of the glass, whether too close, far or off center. Didnt happen with the other scopes I looked at. And the dot was okay I guess.....felt to me more like a "hey, let's just throw this dot in there" kind of thing. The dot wasnt thicker than the crosshair, so it felt more like "there's this glowing pixel thing in my crosshair" rather than a red dot scope.

Maybe I need a second look. First impressions can be misleading sometimes....

Check out the pics I posted. I didnt have any problem getting a good view with it mounted at Turners in Oxnard. They have a Leupold display stand, and before the whole Sandy Hook thing they had two fake AR15s with VX-Rs and a VX-R Hog. I went from low carry to shoulded several times each time I brought the dot right up on target. I was on 1X though and I was taught to keep both eyes open till the crosshairs are on target then close 1 eye to aim.... or just pull the trigger if the target is close enough.

Its by no means near as fast as a EOtech or RDS

My aimpoints seem not to show the tint as bad as a bushnell ( I have a bushnell TRS-25 also).Like goodlookin said most red dots will have this tint/coating.

I have Aimpoints and Eotechs and since they didn't have the color tinting, I did not even know that was an issue until I bought the Bushnell.

I was about to buy a Vortex and a Burris to try them out. Do those have the tint problem as well?

I don't know about the Burris RDSs, but the Vortex RDSs also have a blueish tint.

Like you, I was used to a Aimpoint and EoTech that were on two of my rifles, but wanted to try out a Vortex SPARC because of on all the amazing praises. Ultimately, no mater how much I tried, I couldn't get used to the blue tint. Nothing wrong with the SPARC, it's excellent in every other way, especially for it's price; I was just spoiled by the AP and EoTech's lack of blueish tint.

However, I still recommend Vortex RDSs for folks on a tighter budget; lots of bang for the buck like Primary Arms units.

I think the TRS-25 is a better solution in the price range, but it doesn't have that Aimpoint look that all the mall ninjas and air-soft commandos need, so Im sure that bulky and top heavy 32 will sell just fine at walmart!

Default Bushnell AR Tactical TRS-32

Hey Guys,

I just joined this forum and thought I might be able to immediately contribute something useful. I just purchased yesterday, the Bushnell AR Tactical TRS-32, at my local Walmart for $129. I too couldn't find much about the sight, but it looks as though it's part of their new "AR Tactical" line.

I opened the box and installed the battery and scope ring and then turned it on and I was actually impressed with the quality of this optic for the price. I know that the red dot is supposed to be 5 MOA, but I'm actually not sure about this. To me it seems to be smaller like a 3 MOA dot, even at it's brightest setting. It feels like it's well made and I think it will work perfectly for my needs.

I bought this sight to provide a sighting system for my newly built Yugo SKS with a Shernic Gun Works Bullpup stock. This gun went from a WWII era battle rifle to a modern day Tactical rifle. It looks like a cross between a Steyer AUG and the new IWI Tavor (TAR-21). It went from being over 40'' long overall to only around 30'' now.

The TRS-32 sits at the perfect eye height and will co-witness with backup iron sights (so I'm told). I will try to attach a picture to show how the optic looks on my new build.

Here they are

Fyi my Burris AR332 had no blue tint at all. Clear as can be and it works fantastically on my .308
