Default 80% 308 Lower? Armalite or DPMS?

Hoping you fellas have some input on this.

Just finished my AR15 with an 80% lower from ar15plus and Justin's jigs and milling adapter. All the upper parts came from Palmeto, they had a complete kit to complete a stripped lower (palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/rifle-kits/20-hammer-forged-a2-profile-chrome-lined-rifle-kit.html). I wanted that vintage M16 look and this fit the bill.

Now for my next project I'd like to do a 308. A vintage M14 20" rifle look.

The TM-10 lower and other LR308 are for DPMS, but Iím having trouble finding parts that will fit that lower. Armalite site has everything I need to finish off an AR10 in stock; complete upper, rear stock kit with buffer tube, AR10 mags and of course the LPK.

I just can't find a good quality 80% AR10 lower. Anyone know a good site to order an 80% AR10 lower from? Anodized would be a big plus, I don't mind the bare metal after milling and drilling since you can't see them once you put the upper on.

Thanks and Regards,
RC

Justin has the TM-10 lowers. It took me four months to find all the parts to build two uppers. Where are you looking for parts.

KT Ordnance makes the KT-10 lower which is Armalite based:

http://www.ktordnance.com/kto/order.php

Off the top of my head I can't think of any other manufacturers of 80% Armalite lowers.

OP isn't looking for a LPK. He is looking for an 80% lower.

Because he says he can't find parts in stock for DPMS based lowers. Hence the post about DPMS parts being in stock....

In my opinion the LR308 is a better platform.

The Armalite pattern is pretty much only supported by Armalite and Knights I think. LR308 has more suppliers.

LR308 has pmags for pretty cheap. Armalite has expensive proprietary magazines.

Otherwise, they both work and the parts that aren't 100% interchangeable are usually cheaper in LR308 pattern.

If you can't find parts for LR308, you're not looking hard enough.

cncguns makes a AR10 lower, but it is less finished. the magwell has to be cut and some buffer tube work has to be done. I would go with a DPMS pattern and just work on finding the parts. Or buy a 100% AR10 pattern lower and go that route. I would like to get a KT one, but the cost makes me stop and wonder why.

I called and talked with Brownells last week. About the only parts they have for a DPMS LR308 is the LPK. The guy I talked with at Brownells said he didn't have the parts to build a complete 308 and didn't know anyone else who would.

Dumb question is the only one not asked... so they say.
Will a complete Armalite upper and rear stock kit fit on a DPMS 308 lower with no mods?

Thanks for the replies,
RC

I'll ammend my previous post. Since you have a specific model you want to build then kt ordnance is your place for the lower. I think the cncguns jig will work.

OK... It was a dumb question! I called Armalite and their parts won't fit on a DPMS lower. I'd actually prefer to go with a DPMS lower since there are so many good 80% lowers available for the DPMS. Can anyone steer me to a site that has complete uppers and stocks? As I mentioned earlier, Brownells doesn't have much but the LPK.

Thanks,
RC

Now that Ruger's SR-762 piston-driven AR-10 variant (using an Armalite style lower) has hit the market, uppers for it will be available soon. The Ruger, however, uses P-Mags;...a much better choice.

Now I need to find someone making an 80% version of Ruger's lower.

Just a FYI, the M14 is an entirely different platform.
