Default Average C&R application wait time

I know there was an old thread where people posted their Application mail out date and then the date they recieved their license. Anyone recieve thier license recently and if so what was your turn around time.

just got mine within the last month (no, I don't know why I waited this long!)
  • Day 1 – Dropped off both letters (BATF and CLEO) at post office
  • Day 6 – Credit card charged for $30
  • Day 27 – Received license in mail
  • Day 34 – Received info packet and CD in mail (packet 1 inch thick)

What number did you call? I'm going to call if mine doesn't show up by the 1st. Today is exactly 30 days since I mailed my application and I think Monday will be 30 days since they charged my card.

I don't think my application was rejected for any reason as the ATF has not refunded the charge nor have I received any paperwork or phone calls from either the ATF or local PD...

So why it takes so long I have no idea, I think they do it on purpose.

I emailed them at the beginning of the week. They said they would try and get it out by the end of the week. My account was charged on May 10th.

They are swamped at the moment apparently.

I mailed my application off near the end of April and had the license on May 19, so about 3 to 3.5 weeks wait. I then got my packet of information 5 days later. Considering how much material was in that (the postage was about $8.00 on it) I'd actually say that the $30 fee was pretty reasonable.

Of course, it cost me another couple of bucks to then mail copies off to all the C&R vendors I could find!

Good luck everyone - hope it doesn't take too long to get yours! Then again, if you are anything like me, consider the wait "money-saving time".

Mine took 18 days from date of charge to in my PO Box. Average time I would say is 6-8 weeks now.

My dad just got his a couple of weeks ago. We waited 65 days after they charged our credit card before we called.

They passed him, but they forgot to ship it. It arrived with its big packge within three days of our call.

I'm definitely calling on the 1st. They seem to have a habit of ignoring us until they get a call.

That's encouraging. I mailed mine on Friday (6/22) and wouldn't complain about getting the license around 7/10 or 7/11.

I anticipated a long wait for mine. Had no idea what it would take. Was very surprised when it came about 5 weeks later.

Called about mine yesterday and was advised that it takes 60 to 90 days.
They went ahead and looked mine up and is still in checking status (Background Check).

Mailed 5/30
Check cashed 6/6

I followed all the instructions here

just make sure to include a cover letter to your CLEO, so they know they don't have to do anything.

(and triple check your forms to make sure you haven't forgotten anything)
