Default how many stripped lowers can i buy at a time?

Pretty much the title says it all, but turners has the stripped lowers on sale and with this sunday being fathers day i was considering dros'ing two of them. How many can i buy at a time in California? I appologize if this is the wrong section.
Thank you,
Steve

No more than your dealer's suppliers can furnish at one time.

You can buy as much as your paycheck and credit card allows you, then apply for personnel loans and get more all in one day.

If you can buy more than one at a time you save on the DROS fee. That's always nice.

This does not apply to receivers. See lines 3 and 4 of A2:

we can only put 5 per DROS thought right? But does that mean we can still buy 10 lowers and DROS them that day?

No, you can only put 99 on the DROS.

The 4473 has space for only 5 firearms, but there are instructions to simply use another piece of paper if you need to add more than that.

So in California the technical answer is that you can only purchase up to 99 receivers or long guns at a time without having to fill out a second DROS and paying another $25.

After your first AR, you will immediately begin building out a second. I promise you this. They don't call it a disease for nothing.

So if you're only PLANNING on one AR, buy three receivers instead of two. Trust me on this

This is true, but in some case some start to build the third and fourth along with the second. ;D

Ok... Stupid question warning. If you have to be 21 in order to purchase a stripped lower since it could be classified as a pistol, why can you purchase multiple stripped lowers without problem?

It has nothing to do with it being potentially classified as a pistol.

Federal law states that dealers may not transfer ANY firearms to people under the age of 21, then EXEMPTS rifles and shotguns only to those who are 18.

Since stripped receivers are NOT rifles or shotguns, you must be 21 in order to buy them.

Since stripped receivers are NOT pistols, there is no 1-in-30 days restriction on their purchase.

Well that clears it up So stripped lowers are essentially in the middle because they dont fall under any other classification category. Good info to know! Thanks!

After you DROS and build your 99 lowers you'll say, "now I have to build an 80%." It is a disease. I wish "more cow bells" was the cure.

very true. i did mine in 2 batches - 3 the first time when OLL was still rolling out and i needed lube over for each additional receiver and a second time another 3 from the sale lauer was doing. i paid a lot the first time because the OLL movement was still in infancy and this was one of the few stores that was doing transfers on OLL receivers.

Receivers and frames are officially Title 1 "other" firearms.

1919's, M2's and pistol grip-only "shotguns" (like the mossberg cruiser) are more examples of Title 1 "other" firearms. They are neither pistols, rifles, or shotguns, so they fall into the "other" category.

How much does it usually cost for any stripped lower receivers to be DROS'd after the 1st one at $25? Are they $10 each after that?

One DROS fee covers one receiver, or multiple receivers. There are no fees above the single DROS fee for any additional receivers.

I know what sale you are talking about- they have the PSA stripped lowers for 79.99- I went in this morning and got 2 (teetering on 3- wish I would have just done the 3), and it was $206 and change out the door- 1 DROS fee for both.

What CHS said.... I started my first build 6 months ago with a stripped Spikes from RifleGear.

I thought I would only want to do 1- I have since finished that one, bought another PSA lower a few weeks back and BCM upper, and haven't even finished that one and have my 3rd planned out already with my purchase of #3 and #4 stripped lowers I bought today!

Disease indeed...

Yeah, but that's if you're buying them elsewhere and having them shipped to your local FFL. If you're buying inventory that your local FFL already had(or had your FFL order them through their distributor or whatever), there are no transfer fees.

If you go to your local gun shop tomorrow and buy 50 lowers outta their stock, you're paying the $25 dros and that's it(beyond the cost of the items and sales tax of course).

In that case, can you DROS 2 or 3 'virgin' receivers and build all of them into AR pistols?

True but might as well stock up on lowers before the rifle/shotgun registration law. I don't think the DROS info is kept anyway for more than a couple of weeks. (I may be wrong).

Why is it so hard to get just the right answer for a serious question? People to to this site to get advice not to be joked about. I believe theres a joke section too. Advice is asked then if you really know the answer then answer. If you dont just wait for someone that knows to post. Its so weird cause it took 10 replies to get the proper answer. Just my thought. Cause im also interested about the "RIGHT" answer.
