Shot 3 targets today. Wind about 5mph, lef to right. Didn't seem to bother the .22Magnum but probably did move the .22lr.

First up 50yd Scoped, score-130. Like my other rimfire buddies I chickened out.

Next, 100yd Scoped, score-70. Nearly made the head shot, so close.

Last, the 100yd Irons, score-45. Might be able to do better but time is running out this month.

ON a couple of targets I missed the 30 pt circle so tried the 40 pt and hit it, twice. However on every target that I cleaned up to the 30 pt and then shot at the 40, missed it every time. Stress related I'm sure cause the rifle could do it but I can't.

Yeah, tell me about it. Seems I lose 5% memory with every birthday. I have to check my targets 4 times before I score them and still make 25% errors. Well better than not having anymore birthdays.

Take 3 shots at each bull. Center is 10, then 9, 8, 7,6.
.

Use the 50 yd Iron Sight Target

Take five shots at each bullseye. Score your target. Target may be shot off hand or from a bench rest. Off hand shooters will compete separately from bench rest shooters.

Special note for 10xhobby. He must shoot all pistol targets over his shoulder using a mirror. Just kidding.

For each target indicate your total score and if not already indicated on the target note the distance shot and what type of sights. Ex: Score =xxx, Iron Sights, Scope, Red Dot. No fair shooting iron sight targets with a scope for score.

Rules:

This is an online match. Print off the targets, shoot where and when you want. Come back and post your targets for those in your face bragging rights!! I do encourage meeting up with other match shooters. Any rimfire firearm is eligible. Shooting from a benchrest, prone, sitting, standing, hood of your car, leaning against a tree is acceptable. Using a rest in which the Rifle/Pistol can be locked down is verboten.

Bonus Points

Here is how it will work. This is only on targets that have multiple shots on one target. We shoot the targets as normal and add up the scores like normal. The twist is we shoot for groups as well. For example, if we are shooting 5 shots on each target. If none of the 5 bullet holes are touching you get no bonus points. If two are touching you get 2 bonus points. If three are touching you get 3 bonus points on up to a maximum of 5 bonus points for each target.

Finally for any questions just drop me a PM and I'll get right back to you. Feel free to also PM me with feedback/complaints/errors I make, etc... These matches are based on “Gentlemen's/Ladie's Honor” so go shoot and have fun.

Yeah, but it was a CHICKEN shoot. I'm not getting better, you were just off your game. I'm trying to match your iron sight skills but not there yet. Changing the stock on my CZ UltraLux to a Varmit Thumbhole to improve her riding the front rest.

This looks like fun and I'd like to try it sometime, but I'm a bit confused on the scoring. Take the 25 yd irons, there's 4 targets, total of 12 shots with bulls-eyes scoring 10pts. That would max out at 120pts plus a possible extra 3 bonus points per target for 12pts. Seems like highest possible score could only be 132 pts. What am I missing, I've never scored targets before.

ah ha, think I figured it out. The targets for August were different than Septembers perhaps?

You got it. Make sure that you use the current month's target otherwise they will not count. For scoring purposes also be aware that if your shot lands on (or barely touches) one of the lines between the circles, it is counted as the higher score. Ex: Hits the line between the 9 and 10 circle, that shot counts as a 10.

I'll get a target or two up this month. Last month I got distracted by the arrival of my new Springfield Range Officer. Ended up spending my months' range time (and ammo money) shooting that one instead- wow, love that gun.

I also am picking up a CZ 455 this week. I want to try my hand at some rifle targets.

This hobby is getting expensive!!!

Thanks Izzy. The Browning Buckmark Silhouette is a great gun, you should try one out. I took my 10/22 to the range that day also but I have trouble seeing the sights, and still shot better with the pistol. I do need to get the CZ 455. Also I shot 25 and 15 yard offhand but I did not do very well so I will shoot offhand targets again next week.

Shot the 25 and 50 yd Iron Sight targets today and the 50 Scoped target. Did an upgrade on the CZ UltraLux that was used to shoot the Irons. Used the Savage BTVS to shoot the 50yd scoped target.

First up the 25yd Irons, Score 126.

Next the 50 yds Irons, Score 114.

50yd Scoped Target, Score 167. I was having real problems with the scope holding zero. Unusual for a Weaver that's less than a year old. Gonna have to send it to Weaver for evaluation.

I never really liked the way that the original stock on the CZ rode the bags, very narrow on the bottom of the forend and difficult to use with a scope due to the drop in the stock at the rear. So she now wears a Rimfire Varmit Thumbhole from Boyd's. It shoots a little better now but the big difference is that it now shoots 4 different ammos nearly equally. Wolf MT, Federal 711B, Aguila Pistol Match and surprisingly, Federal American Eagle 38gr HP HV. I shot another 50yd Iron target which is posted in the Rimfire MOA thread. Groups were much better but off the bull so score for this match was not as good. Here she is in her new clothes.

Thanks. Those are BRNO Target Aperture Sights (peep sights). Actually made for BRNO rifles which are the predecessors to the CZ rifles. On a good day I shoot as well with them as I do a scope out to 75yds. Only good for target work, would not work for hunting.

Shot the 100yd Iron and Scope targets today. First up is the 100yd Scoped target. Shot with Savage .17hmr using Hornady 17gr ammo. Being excited about the first 4 I pulled the last one. Score 61.

100yd Iron Sight target shot with CZ UltraLux with BRNO Target Aperture Sights and Lapua Center-X ammo. Score 50.

Yeah, this Savage .17HMR really shoots. In the hands of a better shooter (Like you) I think it could put 5 in a half inch @ 100yds. When I start shooting good I get too nervous thinking I'll pull one and sure enough I do. Gotta work on that.

These are my best two attempts (scored 164 each), my other ones scored 161 and 155. I'm pretty satisfied with my results for now, because this is with my stock marlin Xt-22 and I've only been shooting for about a month now. Hopefully next month I'll have a 10/22 to do the iron sight targets with. Had a blast though, thanks for the competition.

Nice shooting and welcome to the competition. Take a look at the Rimfire MOA match, might interest you. Hope to see more of your efforts. You'll get better if you continue to shoot in these matches, at least most others have.

That's a great job for the 100 yard targets. You seem to be the guy that sets the bar for us. Nice Shooting

I'm thinking of banning him from the Iron Sight Targets. Sometimes TCWriter and me can keep up with him on the scoped ones. Gotta say though he is an excellent, excellent shooter. However, you set the bar for the pistola shooting. I try them every month but not even close to your shooting.

100 yard Scope: Usmcchet Score-63

October Targets!!

Deleted 100yd Iron Target as previous matches show not much interest. Added the 25yd Scoped Target.

25 Yard Irons:
See attachment below.
Take 3 shots at each target for a total of 12 shots. Score your target as indicated on the target.

50 Yard Irons:
See attachment below.
Take 5 shots on each target for a total of 10 shots. Score your target as indicated on the target.

Special Note on the Iron Sight Targets for Rifles and Pistolas. The attached targets will be the same for November. So if you print some out and don't shoot them, SAVE THEM FOR THE NEXT MONTH.

25/50 Yards Scoped
See attachment below.
Take 1 shots at each bull. Take as many sighters as you want. On 25yd target maximum scope magnification is 9X, 50yd target max is 16X. Center is 10, then 9, 8, 7,6. Also note the number of X rings shot, this will determine a tie breaker if needed.

100 Yard Scoped
See Attachment.
Take 5 shots. Red center is 12, then 10, 9, 8,7, 6,5. Feel free to print in black and white if desired.

15 yard Pistol Target, Iron Sights or Red Dot. No Magnified Optics.
Use the 25 yd Iron Sight Target
See Attachment
Take 3 shots at each bullseye. Score your target. Target may be shot off hand or from a bench rest. Off hand shooters will compete separately from bench rest shooters.

25 yard Pistol Target, Open Class. Use any optics you want.
Use the 50 yd Iron Sight Target
See Attachment
Take five shots at each bullseye. Score your target. Target may be shot off hand or from a bench rest. Off hand shooters will compete separately from bench rest shooters.

My Buckmark is out of Jail Wednesday... So I can try my hand at the Pistols challenge.

This will be awesome!

Thanks izzy, I am going to step into your world and try some 100 yard scoped rifle matches this month. But I will still shoot the pistol matches also, and thanks for running the monthly matches.
