interesting. I know this is a dumb question, but do you FFL transfer it just like a handgun, even though its rimfire?

Im not an FFL, but this pistol will be transfer as a SSE. Waiting periods and everything else applies for a handgun applies to it.

Interesting - I keep seeing this 'SSE' term - is this a new practice in CA to get off-list handguns? I've been out of the loop for awhile, thanks

I know that this is a SSE gun because it has one shot only and has a 6" barrel (product description). I saw one today at Turner's. For those who own one, can you remove the mag and use a 10rd mag? In it's original state, how are you suppose to load the single ammo? Does it actually have a bullet button?

Single Shot Exemption.

Quote:
SUMMARY:
The 'single shot exemption' or 'SSE' is an exception to California's Roster of Handguns. Guns in the SSE configuration may be sold in California, regardless of whether they are on the Roster. They must actually be safely functional, and must be capable of firing only one shot before reloading.

Once delivered to the buyer, the original parts may be re-installed and original functionality will be restored.

These are currently $299 at Turner's.
Can anybody please comment on barrel replacement. Since this is SSE after all.
If I were to buy the shorter 4.5" barrel from ATI, can I legally replace the 6" barrel after DROS and pick-up?

Thanks.

They come with the short barrel. A factory muzzle device, which is removable, is attached to comply with the minimum 6" barrel length requirement for the SSE.

If you remove the muzzle device, the barrel is still exposed another 0.75 inch (see picture closely). I don't want the extension and I want a barrel that is flushed to the front of the pistol. I wanna get the 4.5" barrel that comes with the non-CA version of this gun. Is it legal to change?

All GSG-5PK/GSG-522PK have the same 4.5" threaded barrel. They all stick out a little and none fit flush to the front of the pistol.
And they all come with a factory muzzle brake. The only difference is the CA version has the muzzle brake attached and the non-CA version has a thread protector attached and the muzzle brake is unattached in the case.

After you take possession of a GSG-522PK that's been transfered via SSE, you can legally remove the muzzle brake and replace the 0 round magazine with a 10 round magazine.

ATI/GSG GSG-522PK (post-lawsuit/current production)

ATI/GSG GSG-5PK (pre-lawsuit/discontinued)

ATI/GSG GSG-5PK in case with all included accessories.

Quiet,

If look at the first post, you can see inside the factory muzzle brake that the barrel is longer than the one you posted. I've seen the muzzle off the gun and the barrel stuck out a lot, it is not the same as the "ATI/GSG GSG-522PK (post-lawsuit/current production)" picture you've uploaded. It's ugly without the muzzle brake.
I mentioned flush to front, but what I really mean is the standard 4.5" barrel (the one you posted). This is the reason for my question, because I want to replace the barrel in the CA legal SSE to the standard one.
