Crazy good groups with auto-match. Buy all you can of that lot. I spend twice to three times as much to shoot those kinds of groups with my Savage.

Thanks!
I got two cases with same lot number I think I just lucked out because I didn't even test it before ordering. I've been shooting our calguns matches at 50 and 100 yards with CZ 452's and for the cost of the ammo I'm very pleased with the results. Funny thing is I shot some Wolf MT on one of my 452s and it groups better with Automatch. I'll see how it really does once I get a proper rest and rear bag, which I'm waiting for.

Great idea Izzy! I'll be posting some results (such as they are) as soon as I can get back out.

Are there no Winchester Model 52's out there? Anschutz 54's? You know, old school.

I like this idea, and hope to contribute soon. Unfortunately, working 50 hour weeks makes it hard to get to the range.

I shot these three groups today using iron sights at 100yards. There's none chance I can see the crosshairs on the "official" target at this distance, so will these work?

Taking the two groups on the same target...
(1.375 + 1.75) / 2 = 1.5625" (obvious not MOA or subMOA)

This was shot using a Kimber 82 Government model and its iron sights, seated with the front supported and rear up against my shoulder. The ammo used is CCI bulk "Tactical" 22lr.

If this doesn't qualify, no problem! I'll try again but I'm going to have to figure something out that might let me actually see the target without a scope (my preferred shooting method).

Actually I have been thinking about expanding the MOA match to iron sights. Your target is OK. I will post some suitable targets for iron sights. Be sure to limit your shots to 5 per target. They will be an 8" black bull for 100yds and 4" black bull for 50yds. Pretty nice shooting by the way. My 82G likes Wolf MT for best accuracy and secondly Aguila Pistol Match.

Range time has been in short supply (we adopted the two year-old sister of our 3.5 year-old), though I did get out long enough to shoot five MOA targets at the range.

(I wish my 50 yard groups were better; I'm always happier with the 100 yard targets.)

I like shooting to MOA; I should make a trip to the bigger shooting range and see if I can pull it together at 150 or 200 yards (not likely).

As always, shot with my massive-bang-for-the-buck, bolt-action Savage TR, SK Standard+ ammo, Millett TR scope, Caldwell (faux Harris) bipod and bean bag. Someday I'll have to get a proper benchrest tripod just to see what happens.

Thanks for taking the time to run this! Hoping the kid thing will smooth out and I'll find some more shooting time.

TC

Default Today 50yd Iron Sight MOA Attempt

Perfect shooting conditions today, light breeze, sunny and except for the sweat running down my back it couldn't have been better. Attached is the target. Barely missed shooting MOA on two targets. I am not sure I could do better than this.

Thanks. I learned something today about aperture sights. I started out with the largest front aperture that I had (4.2) and shot that target. Previously I was using a 2.2 but the larger aperture seemed to make the target brighter and clearer. I had prevously thought that I should pick the aperture size that gave me just a little white area all around the bullseye but this larger aperture seems to have allowed me to better see the bullseye and easier to center the target in the aperture. Of course as with many things in shooting your experience may differ.

I have a new scope sitting on my scoremaster I have yet to sight in, I think this is a good reason to get off my butt and do it The closest and most convenient range for me is an indoor 25 yard place, so that's what it'll have to be for now. Hopefully I get get some targets to post here soon

Hi guys. Here's the best from today. It was really windy, but I'm not good enough to know how it affected things.

Izzy, you're very right about the larger aperture making a huge difference. The largest I had was a 3.0 today. I need to order larger ones and see how things improve.

This was the maiden shoot for my Kimber in OEM condition. I do think its capable of far better, but obviously I've got a long way to go. Looking forward to the work needed to get there

Good for the first time out. I use Wolf Match Target and Aguila Pistol Match in my 82G. The Wolf is the best but the Aguila is close behind. The aperture that I was using (front) was a 4.2

I shot several of the 50yd Iron sight targets today for the monthly rimfire match. I am posting one of those here as the groups were pretty good but did not score well for the other match as I was off the bull somewhat. Shot with the CZ UltraLux, Wolf Match Target ammo and BRNO Target Sights.

Turns out the local indoor range is only 15 yards, so it took a while before I got a chance to get out. Not so good, but plenty of room for improvement

Those groups are pretty typical of bulk ammo. If possible try to get some Wolf Match Target or at least CCI Standard velocity and I'll bet those groups will shrink. No guarantees but better ammo will bring out the accuracy of the rifle and you.

Hey guys. Here's my best from today. The groups circled were shot consecutively, at 50 yards with my Kimber 82G through a BSA 36x44 scope using Wolf MT 22lr ammo. Sorry, I forgot to do the math on the actual target:

0.6875 + 0.375 = 1.0625 / 2 = 0.53125 (doh! so close!!)

Well since someone asked, If I remember ill post some results soon with my Anschutz, I don't want to make anyone feel bad though

It's a Sub MOA gun with a sometime moa shooter.

Can I just use standard NRA targets when I shoot for groups with iron sights? I have a stockpile of those I practice with.

yup, prado's got a 50 yard range. Mike Raahaughes a few miles away has a 50 as well as a 100 yard range. Tell me if any of you guys head to Mike's I live less than a mile away!

When my 10 days are up, and my glass comes in I will defiantly post my results! (assuming its calm wind outside )

Now that I have started shooting more rim fire I decided to give the MOA match a go. I had a few different types of ammo so I gave it a try with a few different types of ammo. The best group was the wolf which is the left target in the picture.
Here are the results
Distance: 50yd Scoped
Rifle: Savage Mark 2 TR
Ammo: Wolf
