Default How Do I Get a 20rd Drum (legally) for a Saiga 12?

Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but how do I get one?

To my understanding, there is no mag capacity restriction on a fixed mag shotgun (bullet button).

It's just transferring, lending, manufacturing, etc., a 11+mag is what is illegal.

So how does the average Joe like me actually get one legally in CA?

I'm sure there's a work-around/loophole somewhere.

If you don't already posses it, you can't; doesn't matter that it is a shotgun mag:

Quote:
(25) As used in this section, "large-capacity magazine" means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:
(A) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
(B) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
(C) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.

12020. (a) Any person in this state who does any of the following is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or in the state prison:
(2) Commencing January 1, 2000, manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, or lends, any large-capacity magazine.

Did you own the 20 rounds Saiga magazine prior to the year 2000?

If a FedEx plane full of them traveling over CA exploded, and years later you stumble upon a 20 round drum, you should be good to go.

Also if you are a cop

Move, the only unrestricted capacity(I think, if I'm wrong someone will be along to correct me) type of shotgun is a lever action shotgun, and I havent seen one with a drum magazine, but it would be cool.

LAK supply will sell you a parts kit, however as these magazines did not exist until after 2000 unless you have unusual circumstances you can not legally assemble them while in CA.

Blocking a MD arms drum to 10 rounds would not be easy.

Personally I got a ProMag 10 rounder to try the drum thing, but I found the ProMag to be junk.

Probably about the only way you'll be able to legally reassemble and use these is when you head out to the desert in NV or AZ to go shooting but it's better than nothing. Been there, done that.

The issue is from my understanding you cannot have more then 10 rnds in a fixed mag long gun. If you buy one make sure to only buy the MD Arm once there the best.

That's for centerfire rifles - this is regarding a shotgun. See PC 30515 and the flowcharts, linked at the top of every page displayed.
