We should be fine. I believe these are the newest paperweight with updated specs for tolerances and correct jigs. Orders are probably still just driping slowly out of production but with most of socal taken care of from pick ups we should be done soon.

Again, one of the first few to pay, and probably one of the last to receive. Update on shipping please.

Guys,

The labels have been printed - due to circumstances beyond anyone's control this got delayed a bit. No one's fault in particular, or rather the fault of people none of us like.

I'll try to get them out this weekend.

Also an additional update:

The grip is reportedly complete per my conversation with the designer, which has been emailed to moldmaker and will be done soon.

As we all know, Ares has suspended their CNC instruction until after 1/24, again due to circumstances beyond their control. There are some great news coming, including a larger number of machines, etc.

I attended Shot Show (as did Ares) and I have some great news for the thread coming regarding both Caspian as well as Ed Brown.

Stay tuned, and thank you for your patience.

Don't bother; I tried that a week ago and was told that Ares has given all paperweights to glbtrottr, so they don't have yours to give.

I took one for the team. I bought a bunch for grip safeties so you guys can buy the correct one. Ares told us that they use the Wilson #298B compound radius GS on the Rudius. However, a jig and a lot of time is needed to get this to fit the Rudius. In all my testing the CMC GS and the EB GS came closest to drop in fit. They are .250 radius, you will still have to file the underside of the GS and a bit off the Rudius tangs but its quick. For the Wilson #298B I found that the jig got me the shape needed but I still had to file a lot beyond the jig to get it to fit the Rudius. Both the Wilson Drop In Commander and Gov't GS left a huge gap so I wouldn't recommend those. Here are some photos. I still need to clean it up a bit before blasting.

So you just had to fit one side weird, your slide has a external extractor I seen a few of them on eBay like that.

A little more smoothing and it should look pretty good, I think they normally take it down til there's only a line and no gap. What you gunna do with the rest of the beaver tails =)

Oh and btw I think the fit has alot to do with the hole placement, if it was slightly off then it wouldn't match well. I think when I do mine I'll go to the low to the tolerance.

What you mean by fit one side weird? As for my slide, its a Smith & Wesson 1911Sc slide with the external extractor.

The extra parts, lol they're going up for sale in a huge parts thread I'm going to post soon. As for my Rudius, the pictures don't do it justice. In my hands it is a really smooth transition with no gaps. The line you see in the photos makes it seem like there is a gap because of the Sharpie I used

I ment seems you had to do more work on one side than the other that's all, prob just a optical illusion on the gaps.

did you buy direct from Ares, or through the group buy? IF through the GB, then you should talk with your GB coordinator, Ares isn't dealing with you direct.

Now, if you bought from Ares direct back in May, IIRC, they were doing single-piece pre-sales for $200, $100 as a deposit and $100 on delivery. So, that was nothing new and that was your mistake for thinking you had paid in full. Some of the bulk options were paid in full on order, but the singles were half now, half on delivery.

Hmm, it's common for companies to not charge on preorders until ready (and these just became ready towards the end of December, no)?

Unless you were a part of this GB and it got messed up or something?

NM KEJ was on it. I'm drooling over these but seems like more work than an AR with all the hand fitting, etc. I could see doing 3-4 different ones...

Seriously, if the labels were printed last friday, and they were supposed to be shipped over or after the weekend, everyone would have them already. I ship everyday in California, nothing takes more than three days anywhere in the state with any shipping method. What's the latest holdup?

Socal guys finished their builds and norcals still stuck in the dark with shipping issues. We haven't seen in person or been able to even hold one. Yes I'm complaining but after investing over 3500 for a new mill and two rudius paperweights only for a decent build, and can already see the one year mark... I think I'm entitled to one venting post. I'm starting to regret this buy. I honestly don't think these will touch my hands anytime soon even though they're suppose to be shipped soon im considering selling order. I think i lost all my drive to do this project

I was just thinking about this as well.

I can be as patient as needed if I receive communication updates as to where we stand and next steps.

Banana and Glbtrottr, I know you're busy. We all know it. We all have day jobs as well.

What we need is constant and regular communication, not once every week or 10 days. Between the two of you, someone should be able to update us every couple of days.

I want the right product and am willing to wait for it, but the lack of communication is not ok! Communicate with those of us outside of Socal and get us the information we need to either help us to be patient or that our items have shipped.
