Ive heard of it, never seen it, dont really see why. Even though I want an AR 15 pistol, and I want to build an AR .308 with a 14 inch barrel with a pinned hider. 308 with no stock is silly.

Ok I know it does sound a little absurd. I guess my reasoning is purely what if. It allows me to legally possess a short barreled upper receiver. I love the Noveske 12.5 to me it is the perfect rifle. Even though I could never shoot it in the intended capacity, I would like to own it for that one chance that there is San Diego riots or Mexico decides to invade. Or maybe someday I move to Arizona. So those are my reasons.

Sounds like a great idea

You should do it, remember to take video when you shoot it

and then remember to post it here

Arkangle it's gonna be a while till I can piece that all together. It's just a theory right now. Actually if you type in .308 AR pistol on YouTube there is a guy with an 80% lower shooting one. Surprisingly it doesn't look too bad.

If you have a lower that is registered as a pistol, go for it.

You can actually buy a DSA FAL pistol factory made. Not an AR10 but the same idea.

Unless you make Arnold look like a "girly man" you will never be able to control it, and probably not even then. So it will be pure ego, and have zero practical purpose. That said, why not right? No worse than a shotgun without a stock. Plenty of guys own those too.

Umm people have hunted with pistols larger than 308 for a couple of decades now. I used to have a sweet 7mm Mag.

You should read this

There's one guy that I know of who has built one, and I decided a few months ago that I was going to build one myself. So far the biggest hurdle appears to be the barrel - I've concluded that the most cost effective option is to buy a 16" and have it cut down.

Tactical City- I would totally agree with you. It would mostly be for a collection more than anything. Who knows maybe some day California will allow SBR's. Probably not but, to me the only justification for an AR pistol of any caliber is either toy or it is the closest thing to a short barrelled AR that you can own in California. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nid1ne7QWUE

Thanks to the guys for suggesting other pistols but, I am strickly an AR guy for semi-autos. I tried owning other types of rifles and they are just not for me. I find myself selling them to buy AR's.

Peterabbits- Noveske makes a 12.5 armalite pattern and LWRC has a 12.7 I believe. But as long as you have a good company to do your cut down it should be no problem. I cut down my 14.5 N6 to 13.7 and I am happy with it.

Its a waste of money and ammo. After shooting an standard AK rifle this weekend i can't imagine why anyone would want a AK pistol either, besides cool factor its not terribly practical and sure couldn't be for accuracy.

This not a hobby for you if you think we are wasting money and ammo. I shoot this at Angeles Range ,it has a 12.5in barrel , up to 300yds on the steel plate target 10/10

KTO has an 80% Armalite AR10 pattern lower for $300

CNC Guns has a "10%" CNC10 lower that you need to do the magwell on in addition to more common tasks such as the FCG pocket and holes. It's $250, not sure if he has them in stock.

762SASS sells a 0% forging that is very rough and needs everything done.
