Default Anyone live in Galt?

I received this in an Email

Galt Police Department is now accepting applications for CCW's.

They are operating under the same policy/parameters as the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. This great for anyone who is a resident of the City of Galt! As listed in CA PC 26155, the Chief of Police may issue a license to carry a concealed pistol, revolver or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person ... to anyone who is a resident of that city.

Here's the actual penal code section that allows this:
CA PC 26155(a) When a person applies for a license to carry a pistol,
revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the
person, the chief or other head of a municipal police department of
any city or city and county may issue a license to that person upon
proof of all of the following:
(1) The applicant is of good moral character.
(2) Good cause exists for issuance of the license.
(3) The applicant is a resident of that city.
(4) The applicant has completed a course of training as described
in Section 26165.
(b) The chief or other head of a municipal police department may
issue a license under subdivision (a) in either of the following
formats:
(1) A license to carry concealed a pistol, revolver, or other
firearm capable of being concealed upon the person.
(2) Where the population of the county in which the city is
located is less than 200,000 persons according to the most recent
federal decennial census, a license to carry loaded and exposed in
only that county a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of
being concealed upon the person.
(c) Nothing in this chapter shall preclude the chief or other head
of a municipal police department of any city from entering an
agreement with the sheriff of the county in which the city is located
for the sheriff to process all applications for licenses, renewals
of licenses, and amendments to licenses, pursuant to this chapter.

Furthermore, I have just been approved to teach the mandated, 16 hour, CCW training course for Galt PD applicants! If you know of anyone who resides in Galt and wants their permit, have them contact me and I'll help them through the process. Have them do it soon before Galt PD becomes backlogged like Sac County Sheriff's Department.
Carry responsibly!
Sincerely,
Wesley Lagomarsino

Interesting. I'm a Galt resident, but I already have my Sac County LTC. I have a few friends who live in the city limits that are waiting to apply, I'll pass this along.

I sent a link to this thread to my city Police Chief.

Any chance of Oceanside departing from agreement "g"?

It would be awesome to have one city break the san diego county fortress of ccw denial - and Oceanside is perfect!

I think Frank McCoy would be elevated to rock star status overnight and attract a lot positive attention. I know he's had some domestic stuff going on, but IMO he's a good guy who deserves some positive press!

The Galt zip code extents into San Joaquin County, but none of the City proper.

I was wondering if it would be an issue if your mailing address was Galt, but you lived on the San Joaquin side.

Mailing addresses and zip codes don't matter. What matters is where you reside.

I Found out that no part of the City of Galt is in San Joaquin County so I guess my question doesn't matter either. LOL
