I have been using my dad's Mini-14 223 and usp 9mm forever (also occasionally used my brother's Rem 700 308) but for my first "official" firearm I bought a Ruger American in 308. Still waiting.

My Jacob's Rifle was my first firearm, which my grandfather gave to me when I was three. Three months, that is.
In a bit too poor of a shape to actually even consider firing it, plus it probably won't work.

First rifle i think i shot was 12 guage.First one i got to walk out by myself was a ruger 10/22 my dad bought me 50 rounds and it was his uncles who lived just outside of brawley. He showed me how it works took me outside and said theres a house over there, another that way and thers good to go.

I walked around the fileds and shot away come back and out of ammo.He then goes into his closet and pulls out the new colt sp1 he got and showed my dad next comes out loaded mags and lots of ammo and tells my dad here go try this one.My dad shot about 3 rounds(he was tight)I got my turn and let it rip after about 5 shots in a row my dad is yelling to stop says i am wasting the ammo.LOL I was about 9 at the time it was superbowl 16 era.

First handgun i shot was a 1911 my uncle owned it was about 84.

My first rifle i bought was the ruger 10/22 cause of the memories of that first time,Handgun a 1911 again the memories.I did end up with an ar too i bought in 98.Three of my first guns i shot i had to buy

My Grandpa gave me an Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight 20ga. I then bought my first firearm, a Mosin Nagant M91/30.

And my newest addition.

My first firearm was a Marlin 60. Got it from an Uncle when I was 14. It was so I could shoot the varmits that destroyed the crops and orchard on our unicorporated property. It was one of the 18 round tube fed ones.

First one I bought was a Tula SKS for my 18th birthday.

Still have both and many others since then.

Mine was a Remington 11-87 3 1/2" Super Mag that I got when I was 13. Unfortunately, when I was 17 some A-hole cops told my barely English speaking parents that they wanted to take it and the new Beretta 92 I just got as a HS graduation gift to the station for safekeeping after some friend thought it was funny to start a rumor. They never returned them even though the receipt said it was supposed to be returned. No, I never got cited for anything, and that person is no longer a friend. And my parents know know better that to trust the cops like that. Now, I have almost a dozen CA legal configured black guns, but even then, your first gun is like your first GF, your first kiss... everything after is never quite like it.

A Chicom SKS picked up by my Father from a cache site in Cambodia. Yes, I still have all the paperwork, etc. There is a picture of it in the centerfire rifle gallery section under pictures of SKS only or something like that (ended up bring a SKS bubba thread unfortunately).

Never regret anything I traded that gun cuz I did not use it, if I don't use them I sell them, I got that gun in 1970 something. I buy and sell or trade guns on a monthly or yearly basis. I have owned hundreds of guns I don't get attached like so many others do. Statistics will show if you never sell you will never have, It's like that!

Winchester .22 rifle, came with a scope in the box. Got it for Christmas, it had a cracked stock so my dad got a discount from his store. I was about 11 and it was the 70's in the South. Don't remember the model number. It got submerged in a hurricane flood and not worth repairing years ago.

We had guns growing up, including a Crossman pellet gun that I was shooting since I was big enough to pick it up.

I guess that's why guns have really no big emotional resonance with me. They're just tools, like a hammer or socket set. I like good tools and I enjoy shooting them, but they just serve a purpose.

See that revolver at lower left? It's a Charter Arms Target Bulldog in 44 Special and the first gun I purchased for myself. That photo dates to late 1982 but I bought the Bulldog in 1977 in Hampton, VA. I had just returned from a Med cruise on USS Los Angeles (SSN-688). Got in on a Friday and I took the duty with some other single guys so the married guys could go home first night in. On Saturday I went down and bought the gun I had been planning to buy for months. Then I went and saw all the movies that had come out that summer that we had missed including Saturday Night Fever and the first Star Wars. Saw three movies one after the other and then went to an indoor range that night and shot with some buddies.

Oh yeah, here I am in Naples on that same cruise. That's Mount Vesuvius in the background to the left behind my right shoulder.

Winchester single shot bolt action .410. Dad bought it for me when I was 9. I brought home a ton of rabbits, partridge, and pheasant with that gun. When I returned from the service, I found out my mother gave it away?! I miss that gun.

A Charles Daly 1911. I got it when I was 21, traded it to a friend a few years later and just bought it back from him after 10 years. I was feeling a little nostalgic.

I had just turned 11 and for Christmas I got a Remington single shot .22 rifle. I proved myself with it and for my 13th my father gave me a Ruger Single-Six with interchangeable cylinders for LR and magnum .22.
