Default Big 5 sale on ammo

Big 5 has a sale on ammo, mostly Fiocchi. I picked up a box of Fiocchi 115gr FMJ for $15.99/box of 50. Is this a good deal or meh?

I'm a newbie and have my first pistol in jail so I'm going to pick up a few different brands to see what my pistol likes/dislikes. How does Fiocchi compare to WWB or Federal Champion that is at Wal-Mart for around $12/box. Any other ammo I should try? Thanks!

If you bought the gun for home defense (HD) are going to keeping defensive ammo in it at home then buy some different brands of that and try it at the range too. If you planning on running a lot of ammo through it at the range to get proficient with it you may want to look up Bullet_man911 here on the boards and buy some of his reloads he has great reviews on his reloads.

What do you have in jail?

If its your first gun, you're not going out trying to win competitions. You just need to throw a few hundred rounds down range and get acclimated to your gun. I say just go with the cheap stuff, anything brass not steel like WOLF....

Ive had no probs with Federal, Rem, Win, Lawman or Fioccchi.

Big 5 prices suck- sorry. Not a big deal for one box, but you can find it for closer to $10. Like stated above Walmart has good deals and online is the way to go.

Walmart has raised the price of Federal 9mm yet again and even then it's still a decent price. Walmart currently has 9mm FMJ 115gr for $11.99.

Big 5 bent you over on that one, sorry (especially if that price didn't include tax).

B&M - Walmart is going to be your best bet when its in stock

ONLINE - Best prices without a doubt. www.ammoseek.com www.ammoengine.com www.gun-deals.com www.targetsportsusa.com etc.

Big 5 is okay on occasion when there is a sale, or in a pinch, but Walmart is much better, when it's in stock. Palmetto State Armory online has pretty good prices as well.

Yeah "Big 5 sale on ammo" is an oximoron. I have found Big 5 to be the most expensive place to buy ammo. Well them and Bass Pro.

You better call first. Weeks ago I was at Milpitas and some dude plunked down over $1200 of ammo. He bought all the .223 (over $700 bucks worth), 500 rnds of each type (9mm, 40, 45, .38 sp, 357 mag, etc.. Crap man I lost count !!)

Everyone else in line behind me was like "groan, are we gonna get any left??"

I got 2 boxes of Fed .45acp & 2 of the 9mm's. :-P (50 rnds, no value packs boo)

Btw- CAPS ON? SERIOUSLY? Jk..

Walmart is the best option for price. But they only have about 2 to 3 brands of FMJ. As for as your price of 15.99 for 1 box its high only if you buy like 6 to 7 boxes of it cause online is only good if you are buying about 7 boxes or more. Shipping is $15 min. From what I have seen. So Walmart is king for practice rounds. Big 5 has a coupon out for mar. 26 to 27 for 15% off ammo. Google it or check deals and promos on calguns I think someone posted it.
