I just stumbled across this thread. Looking forward for BC to open again. Once it does if you see a white ford focus with the yellow brick road on the side (you will understand when you see it) Feel free to yell at me and say hi. I try to get out there when I have some free time at work and will go shooting on my lunch hour.

Keep dancing and doing whatever you're doing, it looks like it's working because it's raining down here

besides the range, i've been heading out to Ocotillo's BLM land to shoot...this is wayyyy closer to me since i'm in Escondido. cant believe i never new about it until recently....once it reopens, i'm up for a day trip if anyone wants to go from SD. we could split gas to make it easier on everyone.

Hey man! I live in Menifee too. Once you go to Bee Canyon, you'll never go to Ironsites again. I go in my car all the time. I don't think you need a 4x4 ever even after it rains. Lets go together man and save on gas!

Ya they are pretty crowded most of the time, i think the longest i have had to wait to shoot is about 45 mins though so not overly bad but not great either. plus they can get pricey pretty quick. as long as you bring your own guns and ammo its not too bad though. We should try to get a group together and all head out to Bee Canyon could be a lot of fun.

Yeah we went so I could try my rifle out and the wife wanted to try a Beretta 92. We rented the gun and got 50 rounds for it and some targets and 2 boxes of .223 for the rifle since my ammo was metal and they wouldn't let me use it. We spent like 80 bucks and where there for just over an hour. Was still good fun though

You can walk around and look at what they have, but you must join and be a member of NRA or join NRA when you sign up to shoot. You can go with a member as a guest for $15 though.

Thank you, as Ron said, lets keep the canyons clean and open

I too will probably be out there within this next week. Now that the canyons will be open for shooting, I am looking forward to another possible clean-n-shoot

Drove up today with the wife and daughter, tried calling the station but they are closed wed and thurs. There were still "no target shooting" signs up and I only seen one person up there who appeared to be looking for brass maybe? So rather than take a chance of not being in a legal shooting area we just packed up some big trash and a bunch of old shotgun shells.

There is an automated number to call for fire restrictions on the days they are closed. The number is

909-382-2600

The area number for bee canyon is 673... it was at level 1 today so there is shooting all day

On the SBNF website http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/sbnf/...6525&actid=106, San Jacinto is open for shooting:

Fire Restrictions Lowered on San Bernardino National Forest

San Bernardino, Calif., December 4, 2012 With recent rain across the southland, forest officials on the San Bernardino National Forest reduce fire restrictions effective Wednesday December 5, 2012.

As a result of lowering the fire restrictions, visitors may have wood and charcoal fires in agency-provided campfire rings at campgrounds, picnic areas and yellow post sites. Recreational target shooting is permitted within designated sites in the Big Bear area and permitted areas on the San Jacinto Ranger District. We ask the public to always call ahead and check conditions, since conditions do change, whether its a winter storm or the return of Santa Ana wind conditions, said Forest Supervisor Jody Noiron.

Current fire restriction and guidelines in effect on the San Bernardino National Forest are as follows:

Wood and charcoal campfires are allowed only in developed campgrounds, picnic areas and Yellow Post campsites within agency-provided fire rings or designated stoves.

Campfire permits are required for propane and gas stoves and lanterns used outside of developed recreation sites.

Recreational shooting is limited to designated sites and public shooting ranges operated under special use permit only, except those engaged in legal hunting.

The 1N09 Recreational Shooting area remains closed.

An approved spark arrester is required for any internal combustion engine operated on designated forest routes. These include chainsaws, generators, motorcycles, and off-highway vehicles.

Smoking is limited to enclosed vehicles, developed recreation sites and areas cleared of vegetation, three feet in diameter.

Fireworks are always prohibited on the San Bernardino National Forest. Tracer, armor piercing, steel core, and Teflon ammunitions are also prohibited, as is discharging a firearm at any exploding target.

For more information, please call your local forest office at:

Big Bear Ranger Station & Discovery Center 909-382-2790
Lytle Creek Ranger Station 909-382-2851

I was out at Bee Canyon yesterday morning. Had a great time working up some hand loads for my Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter. Came out with a heaping truck full of trash.
