Default Starbucks boycott; a month later

Take a look at Starbucks' stock prices - they are going up up and UP -

https://www.google.com/finance?chdnp...AQ:SBUX&ntsp=0

Meanwhile, the NGVAC is claiming that the boycott "worked". They say over 2000 loyal customers are boycotting Starbucks. OK... sure guys. Here's my favorite part:

boycott.JPG

Those screenshots are from today. Just a reminder guys - the anti gunners truly do not have any grassroots support. They spend big dollars on puffed-up press releases to put up a facade of support, but it's just not there. And as soon as the money stops rolling in every single one of those organizations will cease to function, because nobody there does it out of caring like we do. Remember that!

I've noticed a surge in $2 bills in circulation in the last month. People are even talking about the $2 bills at my office, noting how they have been getting them as change when breaking larger bills.

See there are more of us gun owning freedom loving Americans then those gun hating commies, how much longer will law makers pander to those commies.

Let us not get excited about these developments. Like the discovery of Dark Matter in space the Disarmament Lobby's support stems from the Americans who , like Dark Matter, cannot be seen or detected with modern scientific instruments.

All we must do is wait for particle physics to advance, and we will see these unseen and unknown mass supporters of American Gun Control .

Huh... I don't want to be a killjoy, but the boycotts' impact had a nearly insignificant effect on SBUX stock price or finances. Coffee and gas future prices, seasonal variations and other factors are what comes into play here. The Brady boycott and our show of support probably canceled each other anyway.

Let's not confuse causation and correlation. Our camp tends to make that mistake far too often.

It was Chinese new years last month and traditionally $2 bills are given to the kids in red envelopes.

Certainly stock prices are going to be mostly unaffected by such a boycott, but I really disagree about the "buycott" vs the boycott net effect. If NGVAC is claiming that 2000 people are boycotting Starbucks, what that likely means is they got 2000 people to click on an email and sign up for a newsletter, agreeing to the boycott. Contrast that with the 25,000 people who voted with their dollars on that day, and the over 114,000 that were told about it via facebook. What it really means is that the NGVAC is nothing. They have no effect, other than being noisy with their press releases.

We agree on that. But we don't know either what effect we had on SBUX' overall results.

I'm a coffee snob and spent extra money because of this at SBUX. I have about $40 in gift cards now thanks to friends and gun purchases (thanks EBR Gun Works!) and have spent my own money there as well.

So coming from someone who works for a big corporation, they tend to notice "swells", even small ones and are doing a very good job at monitoring their Social Media trends, buzz words, etc...I'm sure they have seen/read the posts on this and other sites like it to see how their brand is being mentioned. 2k vs 25k moves the needle for a company and their marketing/PR dept(s) will remember this next time they have to make a decision one way or another.

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-relea...143317936.html

Their stating that Starbucks has lost 2000 customer because of them .......... well I think we have more than made up for that.

Time to go buy another coffee ....

Even if true, 2000 customers divided by over 12,000 stores in the US, that's..............well, someone who can count can tell us how much that matters not to Starbucks.

Yep. The takeaway is that the anti-gunners just don't matter. I'm only 25 and while I do work to affect change today, the thing I really look forward to is 30 or 40 years from now when I can compare attitudes on civil rights and guns between now and then. The culture battle is moving forward slowly. Luckily we are on the side of truth and justice.

Yea, I need to look into doing that. The only problem is taking enough for 4 weeks, and into a foreign country. I wish they gave us more time between the flights and boat transfers to just stop by the local SBUX to pick some up.

Just looked it up. No SBUX in Western Australia.

I stopped at SBUX for that particular day and bought an iced tea. Then I let the manager know why I was there when I don't normally got to SBUX.

SBUX will most likely remember this and continue to "follow the law" rather than make political statements. Also, it is harder to measure the number of people boycotting SBUX when they don't go into a store against the people doing a buycott who go in and make their presence known. It's harder to prove a negative making our "buycott" more effective.

Finally, one day or even one quarter of sales will have nothing to do with stock price.

Is it possible that Starbucks is the hidden force behind their boycott?

Seems to be working well for them so far, but, in case I'm mistaken, I think I will get a latte for the cause.
