Default Stainless 1858 Remington New Model Navy .38 special cartridge conversion - REDUCED -

Make: Pietta, circa 1980 according to proof mark

Model: 1858 Remington New Model Navy .36 cal, stainless

Caliber: .36 percussion, with nickel Kirst .38 Special cartridge conversion cylinder

Location (city or county): Oakley, CA

Price: Reduced from $500 to $425

Will ship (Y/N): Yes

Other info:

Up for sale is a stainless 1980 Pietta New Model Navy revolver in .36 percussion, with a nickel plated .38 Special Kirst cartridge conversion cylinder and (blued) firing pin ring. Barely fired....less than 500 rounds.

This is the old style Kirst cylinder....there is no dedicated bogus 'safety chamber' garbage. This cylinder is 6-shot, and to be safely carried the hammer should be down on an empty cylinder....just like back in the old days with the original revolvers of this type.

Very tight lockup on this pistol. Like new.

(Oil on gun makes finish appear smudged, its not.)

No FFL needed. The removable Kirst cylinder and firing pin ring is an 'accessory'.

Comes with 2 (or 3...I forget how many I have) boxes (50 rds each) of .38 Special lead hollow base wadcutter ammo.

You won't see another one like this unless you have it made....the Kirst cylinder is custom nickel-plated.

Reduced To Only $425 PayPal accepted. Act now before I change my mind!

Ideal for cowboy action shooting.

Watch the Clint Eastwood movie 'Pale Rider' to see this type of revolver in action. Particularly the shootout scene at the end where he reloads with a spare cylinder.

Bump. $500 or best offer. If you don't have an 1858 Remington in your collection, then it's not complete. This pistol is from back when Pietta was turning out very nice pieces....they also produced the black powder pistols sold by Colt at the time. Fit and finish is excellent on this gun.

Does the cylinder need to be removed to reload?

Yes. The loading lever is dropped, the cylinder pin is pulled forward, and the cylinder slips out the right side of the revolver.

These actually reload faster than a standard single action revolver with a loading gate, such as a Colt Peacemaker.

(Note: I understand that Kirst now makes a firing pin ring with a loading gate, so if one wishes to have a loading gate and not remove the cylinder to reload, Kirst will swap the old firing pin ring model for a new one for no charge. Lifetime warranty on Kirst conversion cylinders.)
