Default 1911 slide on rails?

I thought I remember reading somewhere that some manufacturer or custom shop mounts the slide of a 1911 onto the frame with precision ground linear rails as opposed to the typical slot/groove config. Has anyone heard of this or can speak about it? Thank, R.

I am thinking you are talking about Accu-Rails.
Infinity also have their Infinity Rail System.

You can have any good 1911 smith add accu-rails, but there is usually a fairly long wait for the parts. Also, if a rail breaks or after the opposing area wears you will have a bit of downtime waiting for replacement parts.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!
