Default Crossroads show good for reloading stuff

Are the crossroads gun shows worth a 2 hour drive to pick up powder, bullets and prmers? My only good options in bakersfield is internet orders with no real local options. Hazmat fees and shipping costs versus gas to hit a southern CA gun show is my question. Do you reloaders buy more components at the crossroads show or online?

Gas money, parking and admission are probably going to eat up any savings.

But it is a good excuse to go to a gun show.

Depending on what you want, you might not find the bullets or primers you are looking for. Most of the time the powder selection seems decent.

I used to buy all of my reloading components at gun shows but that was when I enjoyed going to them. Just as Wash said, admission and parking are so expensive at San Diego gunshows that it washes out the savings.

A 2 hour drive(is that one way? If so, it's 4 hours of drive time), so the parking and admission(that other people have already pointed out) plus gas and simply driving for 4 hours... that's a lot of time and money to hope the show has exactly what you're looking for. Unless you've got another reason to make that trip and the show is only a stop along the way, I wouldn't bother.

I've seen powder there for $10/lb and, other times I've seen no powder at all. Like ALL gunshows, different vendors show up with different product every time. So, there is really no way of knowing for sure.

If there are any local gun clubs in Bakersfield, like an IDPA or IPSC club, then see if their members are interested in splitting an order with you to split the shipping and hazmat fees. Sometimes someone will want just one or two jars of powder and it won't be worth it to pay the hazmat fees, but they might be willing to order with you and split the fees. Don't you have any friends who reload? Do you have any friends?

Most USPSA clubs have someone who buys in very large amounts and resells at the range. Try 5 Dogs on a USPSA match day.

If you want IPSC bullets, you will have to travel to Europe....

No savings worth a turn around trip from Bakersfield to a gun show. Now if you just want to go to one that's a different story. Buy online in bulk find a friend or two to
split it with.

If you're talking about the Crossroads show in Ontario on Feb 18-19, don't bother. They don't sell powder or primers at that show due to City and Fire dept. regulations.

CSA, when was the last time you saw a pound of powder for $10? Curios as the most recent show I went to averaged $20. Tips if you have some? Thanks.
