Default My New 1911

I just picked up my new Sig 1911 rail today. I love it so far and can't wait to get out and shoot it!

For now all I'm going to do to the gun is put a full length guide rod on it. I hate the guide rod that comes on it.

Switching from a G.I. style guide rod to a full length is a bit of a 1911 "newb" move IMO.

Full length guide rod has no benefits, was not in the guns original design, and makes field stripping without tools more difficult.

But what do I know, I've only had 4 or 5 1911's...

Every 1911 I've owned has had the full length guide rod so I'm used to it.
