Default Stock Saiga 12 need a mag lock in CA?

I am looking to pickup a S12 and saw that Atlantic Firearms is selling a CA legal model with a BB for $579. I thought that when they were in a sporter configuration, they did not need a BB, like my Saiga 7.62. I did not have to put a BB on it until I did the conversion.

Thanks in advance!!!

The rifles do not need a mag lock in sporter configuration. Semi-auto shotguns cannot have a detachable mag, so a mag lock is required at all times. See the flowchart for shotguns here.

You can use a 10 rd mag, provided you comply with 922(r). If you somehow can legally have managed to procure greater than 10 rd mags then yes you can use them, again assuming you comply with 922(r).
