Talking Defensive Night Tactical Pistol Course - April 21 3:30 pm 8:30 pm Buro Canyon

Tatical Night Shoot is confirmed April 21 3:30 pm 8:30 pm Buro Canyon. There are still about 8 spot left. Thanks

Defensive Pistol Night Tactical Course!
This is not a beginners course, this is for advanced intermediate shooters!

Most of us only practice self-defense tactics at outdoor ranges during the day, or at indoor ranges with lighting. The problem is that very often the situations that would test our self-defense skills occur at night or in other low light environments. This one evening workshop will help you develop your shooting skills to deal with low light situations.

Description:
This course will introduce you to the specialized techniques and skills required to confidently defend yourself in low light situations. Learn the tactics, and practice shooting your self-defense handgun in a realistic and safe setting.

Instructors:
Tactical Avenues ( http://www.tacticalavenues.com/ ), will be the course instructors.
Tactical Avenues is a training organization comprised of full-time tactical operators (Current SWAT Team Leaders - Los Angeles), investigative and security professionals, who are driven to provide law enforcement, military, and qualified security personnel the most comprehensive and effective training available. Every instructor is a leader in their fields of expertise. Tactical Avenues is unique among training companies because training is based on real world scenarios that their instructors face every day in the field.

So far 66 Cal Gunners have requested the Night Tactical shoot, however only 11 shooters have sent in their tuition and completed application. There is still 14 training spots open. Confirmation is based on first come first serve basis. Hope to see you all there!

Default Very Pleased

Big thank you to all (4) of the instructors at the “Low Light” class 04-21-12, I apologize for not remembering all your names, but know I took away something from each of you. Any training I take, I always look for something different to add to my skill set tool box and I can honestly say I did from this training.

At the end of the class, one of the instructors expressed regret they did not have more time to go over each of the drills and instructions, I was pleased with all we went over in a five hour course. I always feel it is my responsibility to take what was given and practice, perfect and make it my own on my own time, the instructors job is to pass along skill sets to the best of their ability, in the time given and I feel they did that well.

The class began with about 15 to 20 of us (Men and Women), and one of the instructors “Dane” going over safety and legal aspects of use of deadly force, muzzle control, five point weapon draw from the holster and chamber check. On the range we started with weapons empty and command movement on the five point draw under the supervision of three instructors watching for safe control and refining hold positions for each point of the draw system.

Satisfied with what they saw, we moved into the live fire portion starting from about 10 feet from target, and later back to around 15 feet, we performed command draw from the 5 point holster draw and command shot placement was given, some single center mass, some multi hit, and some double tap. There was a good amount of shooting, with magazine top off and water in between sessions.

Next we broke off into two groups, one moved to shooting at a moving target from a concealed position, and shooting on the move on a static target. This was much fun and I took some good things from the session. They had a target hooked to a line which the direction and speed could be wire controlled in a right and left movement, pretty tight set-up and lots of fun.

The other group went over various shooting positions, kneeling unsupported, kneeling supported and prone. Then moved over to steel plate knock down targets where instruction for holding lights was given and on to the line for shooting. Last was some fun one on one static shooting on the knock down plates.

I try not to let price be an issue when it comes to training, I think the training should stand on it’s own, but at 80.00 bucks for what we went over, the level of instructors, and the time on range, wow what a bargain.
