Default Custom Thread Protectors / Fake Cans.

If anyone is interested I can make them a custom slip over thread protector to any desired length and diameter. I will charge $50 shipped primered and spray painted. I can have them powder coated for an addtional $10. Let me know what color you want and I will see if my coater can do it. Black is no problem. These would be perfect for your gripless builds.

These leave the end of the barrel exposed so in no way can they lower the decibels. I can also produce an extended version that will extend past the barrel. The extend version will have a 1/2 to 3/4 hole reaching down to the exposed barrel end(good way to prove they are thread protectors and can in no way lower the decibel level.

Here is an example of one I made for myself:

THESE ARE MADE FROM SOLID ALUMINUM BAR STOCK.

This one weighs approx. 7 oz.

Measurements of the one below are

6" OAL length

1 3/8" 1st step down at the rear

1.5" larger main diameter

1 3/8" first step down diameter(at the rear)

1 1/16" smaller 2nd step down diameter

I can place the knurl in any position and at any width(min. of 5/16")

I can +/- steps and make them any diameter and width.

Threading will be 1/2 X 28 or 1/2 X 36, but if giving notice of what threads you need I can let you know if I can do them ahead of time.

If anyone is interested let me know.

Disclaimer: THESE ARE TO BE USED AT YOUR OWN RISK. I ASSUME NO LIABLITY FOR WHAT YOU DECIDE TO DO WITH YOU BARREL THREAD PROTECTOR.

Well it depends on the threads size/type on the AK. I don't have an AK, but I've heard that the threads are left hand threads. Once I now the thread type I can make a custom can that will fit on your AK. All I would need from you is some measurements. PM me if you want to work something out.

Default Legal Issues

I had some concern that these could be considered silencer parts. This is not the case because there is no hollowed out chamber and they are solid aluminum bar stock. They fit over the barrel exposing the end of the barrel. Even if holes were drilled in the barrel it could not affect the decibel level in any way. I can make some that protrude past the end of the barrel, but these will be solid as well with a 1/2" to 3/4" size hole for the bullet to pass through. There are other companies currently selling these with approval from the BATF. My design are no different except for the options of length and diameter. Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Heh. I caught that in your first post: "These are milled from solid bar stock aluminium".

How much do these weigh? It'd be interesting to see how much the weight on the end of the barrel affects the point of impact: first zero the rifle without; then shoot a group with.

The one pictured above weighs about 7 oz. If it needs to extend out past the the barrel I would double that weight.

I havn't shot with mine yet, but it seems that it may reduce muzzle lift.

Can you make one that has a built in extender kinda like the MFI and adapter? If not can you make one that will turn a 10.5" barrel to 16"?

Here's an example of a finished protector (slip over). This one also shows the powder coat you will receive.

I like the one in the last picture... Can it be finished in black and made to fit Kel-tec SU-CA? It has the standard threads but the length I need is approx 5.5 - 6 inches per my initial measurement... If you have Kel-tec SU-16CA, can you ensure/confirm that the exposed barrel is covered?

hey...

how about a bayonet thingie? like a big curved spike that would extend from the barrel out about six inches? timing it would be necessary though to keep it from interfering with the sights, but that could be achieved with peel and crush washers.

So, you mean a bayonet that is all one piece that threads on the end of the barrel? PM me with more details if you are interested.

Shouldn't be a problem. I've done something similar for another member already.
