Default Is there a limit on how much ammo i can have in my home?

I was wondering if there is a limit on how much ammo a person can own and have in their home. I live in Riverside county.

You are only allowed one box of ammo 50 rounds per each firearm you own. The rest send to me. I 'll dispose of it quitely.

If you dispose of ammo quietly, then you're doing it wrong

Nope, square footage is just a starting point. Your garage is not counted toward square footage and neither would the basement or stairs or attics or sheds or covered decks or gazebos or patio areas and anywhere else you can just stack ammo. With enough shelves, you can also stack it up to the ceiling.

There is no excuse to not have enough ammo to sink your house at least 2" further into the foundation.

You're right. I'd also like to add the area of potential room/floor additions.

OP, do an experiment on this and post with pics please.

Without even getting into additions anywhere, if you know a good contractor or if you are handy with drywall, you can also start cutting between studs and have instantly made space for a case of ammo between the studs. Just wallpaper over the studs so it looks covered and when you need ammo, just jam your hand in there and tear it out. Do I have to think of everything?

For some i reason I think your able to store 1000 rds, anything over that DOJ has an application to file. However no oversight, some as the other post, it depends on wallet.

I've bought 3,000 rounds in a retail store in Ontario and nobody ever mentioned anything about it.

No, no paperwork at all. Imagine having to tell CA-DOJ about 2 bricks of .22.

That's less than 2 boxes of .22lr

I typically order in quantities of 500-1000 rounds, and I'm ordering for multiple calibers, so when I restock, UPS is bringing 3000 or more rounds in one shipment.

Why even post this if you don't really know if it's true?

Yes
Limited to 200 rounds per licence at any one time.
Limited to 2400 primers for reloading.
(Dedicated Sportspersons and Hunters are exempted from this limit and there is provision for the ‘normal’ person to apply for exemption from this limit.)

If you live in South Africa

ive asked an ffl to purchase 30,000 rds for me before. he never said anything about a limit, but would only sell to me 3k-5k at a time, because he didnt want me or him to come across as suspicious for a lump sum purchase.

One of my neighbors did a group buy for his department's personal use. multiple hundred thousand rounds delivered to his home, 9, 45, 223. Said the DOJ showed up with questions. There was no problem after they were satisfied he was a LEO and not a Branch Dividian. He had no idea how they found out but he suspected the freight company.

My question is... what if he just told the DOJ nothing. Was this shipment sent here? Well, if you got the bill of lading from the shipping company, then it is what it is. I will take it up with the shipping company or seller for violating my privacy because it's not up to them to disclose what they ship without a law requiring disclosure otherwise.

Why did I buy so much ammo? No reason. Is the ammo still inside the house? Maybe. What other things do I have in the house? Furniture... food... a car... none of your business. Am I a member of any questionable groups? Let's see... the local church, AAA, the local Dining Club that explores new restaurants, a motorcycle riding group that does weekend cruises, and a Bingo club.

What could they do? What business is it of theirs if it is an otherwise lawful purchase that is not subject to any regulation or disclosure by law? They want to send an agent or two to sit across the street to see if any ammo is moving in and out of the house? Go ahead. I might just give a free box to everyone that walks out of my house with the stipulation that free ammo must be held in your hand in plain view as you get in your car for the viewing pleasure of the DOJ agents.
