You can get it shipped to the heart of east Oakland if you want.

So yes.

Some places have restrictions like Los Angeles but I don't think Sacramento has any restrictions.

Most places will not ship to Sacramento city zip codes because of the city's mandate to copy your i.d. and fingerprint.

However, there are some places that will ship. I just don't know them off the top of my head.

Some websites now are refusing to ship ammo to CA, period. I live in Orange County, I don't think I can have it shipped here. I could be wrong.

Also San Francisco requires ammo to be sent to a licensed FFL dealer.

I've ordered from Cabelas and never had any issues getting ammo. But I live in Elk Grove. My buddy in Sacramento was not able to order ammo online but not sure which site he was using.

Never had a problem getting supplies shipped in. Some outfits ship with an 'adult signature required' option.

sgammo.com, jgsales.com, midwayusa.com and others seem to have no troubles shipping to OC.

in sacramento "city" limits? or sacramento proper.. the "city" has laws, that shippers apply to any "sacramento" address, whether the city, or the unincorporated area.

I live in Sacramento County with a ZIP code totally outside the city limits and have purchased on line from Sportsmans Guide and Sportsman's Warehouse. When I tried to order from Midway, they refused stating company policy. I even called to argue the point with them. Bottom line, in my experience some companies want to err on the side of caution. Also, the sent orders did require and adult signature for delivery.

Some sellers have confused the ammo restrictions of Orange County, NY with Orange County, CA and will refuse to ship on that mistaken belief.

Drive over to Rocklin and have a visit with Sacramento Black Rifle. They have pretty good ammo prices and lots of other cool stuff to look at.

What store is that? There's only ONE guns and/or ammo shop that I know of within the Sacramento city limits, and they comply by Sac's I.D. and thumbprint ordinance.

That's a misinterpretation of SF's licensing requirement. A retailer selling ammo in SF needs special permission from silly hall. So, some onlone sellers won't ship into SF.

Luckily, some figured out the ordinance was meant for SF businesses and will ship into SF.

Sacramento's ID requirement (in Sac city only) has also scared off lots of online sellers.

Aim Surplus is who I used but their shipping prices are just to high now. Palmetto State Armory has good prices and cheap shipping. I just placed an order with Jack Ross Ammunition to try them out, they are in Reno and ship free to CA. They are behind with orders right now so don't order from them if your in a hurry for your ammo.

You can also use ammoseek.com to compare ammo prices and find more online stores.

Sorry, my mistake. The stores I have bought at aren't in "city limits", they are in Sacramento county.

My mistake

SG gets very good reviews on other forums especially for milsurp ammo. They seem to have excellent prices & no Cali or Sacto restrictions mentioned.

Wanted to add some knowledge to this thread for SF folks...

SGAmmo won't ship to SF. I got one order out of them, then had the next one held and had to send to a buddy in Alameda or pay the 3% card fee. Great for smaller quantity orders and might try sending to a UPS Store in the future.

Ammoman.com has no problem shipping to SF. Multiple orders placed and it's been very reliable. All you need to do is provide your ID via email for their reference. Great for quantity orders.

Brownell's also ships to my door. This was great as they have awesome deal right now for .223 via a link on the slickguns site.

J&G Sales will ship, but requires a signature - kind of a PITA for me as I would have to be home from work to accept.

The above tend to have the best prices, so I don't care much to investigate other online sellers ATM.

HTH.

I was thinking about this thread not too long ago.

I am in N. Natomas which is guess is considered Sacramento City limits. Havent had much success with on-line retailers.

I've purchased a couple times from big 5 in city limits and had to give a thumb print.

I was planning to check out Ammo Depot - not too far from my work.
Looking for Mil-Surp for the M1A and bulk .45 auto
