I've seen those in immaculate condition at *gun shows* for $750 and gunshops for $650, nickel and blued. If you get $1k for that, the buyer will be sad when he finds out what he paid.

I was looking at those seriously for use as my pocket pistol early last year, but went with a model 34 Beretta instead (cheaper and fit my pocket better).

Your gun may be worth more if you had some customization work done.
But as a stock gun $750 would be good if your lucky. Colt is reintroducing the Mustang line again.

That is adding a lot of value seeing as how it originally retailed for less than that...

I say $700 if-and only if- you have the factory serial number matching box/paperwork. and id ad only if its a box and not the later plastic case. That looks to be in good shape for a shooter but not an unfired safequeen. If your going to sell do it soon as the new mustang have already hit shops in small quantities. Once they become readily available only the early safequeens will command a premium in my opinion.

You have been smoking horse poop if you think you are getting $1,000.00 for that.

It would have to be unfired, in mint condition, with box, papers, receipt, any and all tools that might have come with it, and maybe a box of ammo.

Have you done any research whatsoever to determine the date of manufacture?

Does the gun have a special history? Such as having been carried or used by any famous people or in noteworthy events?

Just because it is a Colt does not mean it is worth its weight in gold.

It's merely a decent gun.

But I'd rather have another S&W Pre-Model 10 that dates from the 1940s instead of that .380. At least I could carry the Pre-Model 10 with readily available +P .38 cal. ammo.

There are so many other really unique, useful, and superior semiautos out there available for $1,000.00 that I would never spend that much on your .380, as nice as it might be.

Decent gun.

Unrealistic expectations for price.

Good luck with that.

As said above if it's unfired with all original matching material and if it was stainless instead of blue $1k could be possible.

I had one in mint condition with both magazines, box and paperwork and was please to get a trade even for a recent model NIB Remington R1.

The Colt Gov. 380acp prices have dropped in recent months.

AFA, it not being made anymore - I have a Steyr GB, 9mm, DA/SA with both 18 round magazines, box, cleaning kit and paperwork - all in mint condition, and I've been try in vain to fetch $1,000 for the gun.

IMHO, the Colt 1911 series 70 seems to be the only handgun that holds value.

The reason surely had more to do with the market not seeing a need for a pocket 380 at the time then it did with the quality/reliability/function of these guns. They are, in my opinion, the finest compact/subcompact 380s ever made.

New ones are $599 ish. Unlike 1911's which go up in value as they age the Mustangs have been going down.

Check Gunbroker and other internet sites to get an overall value.

Good luck with your sale.

The old reputation of the Mustang as unreliable, and the availability of the Sig P238 which seems to have fixed the reliability issues, will probably keep the price of this gun down below what you want.

They were dropped when Colt got all the .gov contracts and turned their back on the civilian market.
They sold every one they made.

I never heard of big reliability problems with these guns and my PocketLite has been 100% reliable from the very first round.

I think I paid $325 for mine back in the day. Sold it for about $300 a few years later since I rarely shot it. Wasn't particularly accurate and didn't have much oomph.

You can ask for $1,000, but what you will receive from a buyer will be based on what someone is actually willing to pay for one.

You can stop asking, the poster is banned and will not be able to reply. He probably never had the Colt anyway, if he wasn't a troll, he sure acted like one.
