Planning for another trip before Christmas, haven't decided between 4-day handgun or rifle yet.
Try the rifle course, it's a ton of fun.

I am planning to go with my landlord, who is really new to firearms.
I could either do another 4-day handgun with him (kind of safeguard him), or attend the rifle course (which I have never been)

It's also cheaper to do handgun since I have enough brass ammo left, but not much for rifle. (mostly M855)

I just signed up with that Ambassador membership. Can't wait to get out there. Hopefully, in the next month or two.

Looking at the schedule just now, I am eyeing the 4 Day Defensive Handgun Course on 11/16. Working out the schedule with my wife. Might as well, since work will be shut down the following Thanksgiving week anyway.

Anybody else going? I have certificates as well, if anybody is interested (just PM me, good for new or returning students).

leave the m855 at home and buy 500rds of wolf/tula.
they don't let you pick up brass anymore and you'll loose some in the malf clearance drills. Wolf/Tula is cheap enough you can afford to loose some in the dirt.

if you're running AR, bring your main and a back up, just in case. You might even bring a scoped upper for 400yd, day 3 I think.

it's a lot of fun. You'll enjoy it

Don't they prohibit students using steel cases?
Wouldn't range master easily catching people with shining grey cases?

Steel cases are fine. Just no steel projectiles because they're hard on the steel targets.

Correct me if I was wrong, but aren't most Russian ammo such as Tula or Bear attracted to magnet?

Lugiahua seems correct. Most of the Russian steel case I have (Wolf, Tula, Silver Bear) is magnet attracting at the projectile (meaning it has a bi-metallic jacket). These are prohibited at Front Sight because it tears up the steel targets. Better to go with Prvi or PMC Bronze if you're doing rifle.

My experience using steel cased ammo was with Hornady Training .223, steel case and Hornady bullet. Nobody cared about the cases.

I personally don't believe in "bi-metal jacked Russian bullets ruin targets" as I am allowed to use it in many trainings.
But since FS prohibits it, I am not getting myself into troubles.

I received one of the TBD Communicator Memberships as a part of my Diamond Memberships. Does anyone know if the communicator is good for weekend courses or just weekday?

FYI I'm at FS right now. Hot decent meals (breakfast and lunch) at food cart in the parking lot, on site factory ammo priced considerably less than Pahrump Walmart.

Handgun skill builder. I needed it so i can take the Advanced handgun.

Day 1 is pretty much an abbreviated 2-day def handgun. Not sure what day 2 is about yet.

65-75 overcast, occasional light rain.

Day two is probably running the skills test over and over and over... Adv. HG is pretty fun. You'll get to do a lot more than the boring, vanilla HG course. I may return in Dec to take it again.

Nice to see the temps coming down.

I'm also here, temps JUST came down today, I was doing two day shotgun for the past two days and it's been warm (80-85).

Sapro, you weren't the one wearing the Calguns shirt in my class today were you?

ok, so recently I am getting emails regarding Communicator Lifetime Membership. (with a link of four options)

Does this has anything to do with my recently acquired diamond membership? or just another commercial?

WOW, that was some intense lightning, thunder, and rain! Those metal roofs make it sound much more intense than it really is.

I'm going to go ahead and blame my terrible skills test performance on the rain...

There was a guy in my class who DG'd down a total of 3 points. And that was on a procedural during the malfs. That means he perfected the shooting.

It's certainly easier with good weather.

I DG'd with 3 pt down the last time I went. I only missed one headshot by about an inch otherwise I would've cleaned it. Put in the dry practice before your next class and it's not too difficult.

IF you haven't picked up a communicator, it's a freebie you can pass on or sell. The rest of it is more sales adds to get you to buy more to sell. Not a bad deal if you are looking for additional memberships.

Crap, I missed the "Fall Weekend" now it's just going to be cold and windy
Seems that the seasons in Pahrump, both of them (winter and summer) are only interupted by weekends of temperate weather.

From now on until about april I'll have to pack the cold and rain gear...gotta love the desert.

Definitely planning to. Made some grip adjustments, as many of my shots were left of my POA. Now I need to dry practice to build up the new muscle memory. Going back for a 2D HG SB on Nov 7th, so I've got a deadline to look forward to...

I tried getting a DG at the handgun skill builder with my glock 23 in a crossbreed super tuck and uncle mike instructors belt. I wanted to challenge myself and practice with gear that I actually use. Got 18 pts down, essentially one rd off the gray area/5pts from a DG. Aced malfunctions. Walked away with a Grad sticker on my 2nd skills test attempt. For the sake of going back for a DG ill bust out my blade tech SR holster.

To reiterate others comments - dry practice! (Elbow down, thumbs up).

Maybe it's my hands size, I always have problem shooting FS style grip.
I shoot significant faster and more accurate with Iso high thumb, with my support hand thumb align with barrel.
Where ever my thumb points, my barrel follows.

I tried the both-thumbs-on-the-frame grip style. It made me squeeze too hard and heel my shots (shots going high) doing that grip style and trying to have isometric tension. Also, my trigger finger is a lot more relaxed with thumbs up grip.
