Funny I spell so bad I didn't notice that.

As far as being US property and rare, for M-16's its not that rare a marking for a pre 86 receiver, at least I have seen a bunch.

No it was proabably $500-$700 pre-86 plus a 200 dollar tax stamp.

Not that I am an NFA expert or anything, but the price may be justified. There are alot more M16A1, Sendra's, converted AR15's that are machine guns. But even back in the 80's it was fairly hard to get an actual US government marked M16 (that is why John Norrell did all the rewelds); Colt rarely sold the m16's to anyone but the military and Law Enforcement. Keep in mind that this is the A2, and the time period the of the A2's with the introduction of the 1986 ban, means that there weren't that many A2's put out before the ban hit.

full auto 16s can be had on Gunbroker for less than half of what this is going for what your paying for is tool markings that is somehow supposed to make it rare.

it is NO MORE will ever reach the registry , and if its really NIB gov stamped it is not something you will find often, NFA weapons have done nothing but become more and more expensive and will continue to go that way unless somehow the NFA goes away ...

ask Norrell now good of a investment all his trigger packs are doing for him, he only parts with a few each year ... and look at the price just for those some time ....

i wish i had the $$$ to invest in a few, but i just a pool ole dude ...lol

In the late 80's semi auto Colt AR15 (A2 sights etc) was going for $950-$1050 depending on features. $500-$700 was the going rate for AR15 and AR15 A1. I'd be willing to bet a true M16 A2 would have prolly fetched $1800 back then.

I'd give anything to have that thing. The A2, along with the CAR-15, is my dream black rifle.

Agreed with Cali-Shooter on pics of the gun, though!

Wait a few years, the Army is gonna send all of its 92ish A2's to the national guard who will likely send those to the reserve who are gonna sell their vietnam era a1's stamped and upgraded to A2's......

So in 5-10 years we can all own a cement grey, wobbly, mostly useless M16A2-ish from vietnam and dropped by 100000 basic training soldiers

If you are really that motivated, then create a NV trust and buy it. I have a friend in So-Cal with a Mac 10 which lives in a safety deposit box in Colorado.
