Default Ar buffer bolt has a circle on the face

After shooting some Milwall reloads rounds threw a 20 inch stag left handed upper, I noticed my buffer bolt has a circular marking on it from the bolt carrier. The chrome looks like it chipped off.
I tried 2 bolts each with a new spring. The last buffer bolt and spring came straight from RRA. Originally I thought my gun show buffer and spring where imported junk.
The rifle feels normal (or at least what I remember from my army days.) I do not remember the buffer bolt looking like mine does now.
Other then the circle on the face of the buffer bolt - all looks normal.

What could my issue be? To hot of ammo? I have put 400 rounds of the same ammo threw it. Maybe the 20 inch barrel is generating too much force? I see most people at shooting the 16 inch barrels.

My bolt face has a round mark on it from the recoil of the bolt. I wouldn't worry about it..it should be fine..

There's a burr on the aft end of the bolt. As you fire, the buffer may rotate and the burr is wearing off the anodization--it's not chrome.

It's common.

The common solution is to take some emory cloth to the edges of the rear bolt carrier and try to smooth them out.

A lot of people just go with it.

A buffer pad is available that will help protect the face of the buffer. You just peel off the backing and press into place.

I have used it with good results.

+1

You guys worry too much, your rifles are just fine, its a wear mark, in a spot that will take much much more wear before it's an issue. It's a tool remember? Being worried about the way it looks outside is maybe understandable, but don't go worrying about the aesthetics of the inside of your rifle, you'll never be happy.

Yeah, it's pretty funny... people shoot their weapons but get disturbed because it shows signs of normal wear. heh

Some people in here would cry when they see all the dings and scratches on some of my uppers. The 5000 round old Compass Lake upper that I use for practice has some nasty scratches from the sling hooks rubbing against them.

Does someone sell something I can add to my carrier to make a happy face instead of a circle?

Depends - if the buffer is slamming the back of the buffer retainer pin you'll a pattern with little "tick" marks the lenght of the buffer retaining pin. This is caused by a lower with the buffer retaining pin hole drilled a few thousandths of an inch too far forward. I had a Hesse receiver so mangled.

Eventually the pin will break and the buffer will not get trapped by the pin when the weapon is shotgunned open - bummer. You can rebate the edge of the buffer a bit to reduce/prevent the damage.
