Default 22 WMR vs 22 LR case and bullet dimensions

I've been collecting up parts to fiddle around with 22 WMR. I've always thought that 22 WMR is basically just a longer 22 LR, but looking at case and bullet dimensions, they are all totally different?
So I guess that a barrel blank isn't going to be the same between the two?
I was going to take an older 22 WMR barrel and use it for a .22LR, but according to Wiki, 22 WMR uses a .224, and 22LR uses a .222 bullet?
Am I reading this right?

Real issue is that the 22WMR barrel chamber is totally different. Different diameter and different length. 22lr will not chamber correctly in that barrel and may well be dangerous. The brass case of a cartridge is little more than a gasket in the chamber to make a tight fit. The chamber and bolt is what contains the pressure of the powder being ignited. A 22lr case in a 22WMR chamber may well rupture and damage the chamber, bolt and possibly the shooter.

The bullet diameter is not that big a deal. Many .22lr shooters resize their bullets to .224 and even .225 (mostly revolvers for .225). There are 3 tools available that I know of that will allow you to resize rimfire bullets for a tighter fit in the chamber.
