Default CHEAPEST Military Ammo.....Anywhere???

Hey guys,

I'm looking for some cheap range shooting ammo. I don't own any exotics, so I figured a military surplus ammo should be cheap to shoot. I own a Sig 226 in 9mm and Spikes Tactical AR 15 (5.56) (Coming in 2 weeks...ahhh), and a Russian SKS (7.62X39).

All three of these (9mm, 7.62X39, .223/5.56 nato) calibers are military used calibers, so I'm assuming there's surpuls cheap ammo somewhere out there. Anybody knows where?

I like to get it in bulk for a good price. 9mm is usually found online for $200 for a 1000 rounds + $20 or so shipping. 7.62X39 is about the same as 9mm, or a little more. The .223/5.56 is about $260-$280 for 1000 rounds. As long is it won't damage the gun in any way, I'm open to shooting any kind of ammo (not sure about the steel case ammo though).

Please share your wealth of info with the rest of us...

There's no magical well of surplus ammo... just have to keep looking around for deals and buy in bulk when able. Keep in mind many ranges won't allow steel core ammo.

Steel case ammo in SKS = gun blow up.

JUST JOKING! Steel cased in SKS = best. Even some AR's stomach wolf or tula .223 no prob.

For 7.62x39, you may want to look into mil-surp Yugo FMJ ammo, it comes in wooden crates and can be had for $.17 a round. But is it corrosive, so you will need to clean your firearm accordingly.

Sent from Black Mesa Research Facility, Sector E Biodome Complex.

Along the top blue ribbon on each CGN webpage, there is a 'Member Services' drop down. In the drop down is 'Calender'. Sometimes gun shows are listed, so check it out.

My max buy price for 9mm is less than $200 for 1k rounds...including shipping and tax. Reloadable brass and FMJ only.

Love to get it around $170 to my door... Less happy at $200.

ammoengine hasn't been mentioned yet.

for 9mm, just go to walmart and get Federal Champion. Great range round!

I normally pay about $180 for 1K of 9mm from a member on here in the ammo sale section.

http://ammoman.com/index.htm

Steel cased but a very good price for all three. It's the first item on the page; the introduction to wolf ammo sale.

www.aimsurplus.com

They usually have that type of ammo and is among the lowest price that I've seen.

Aimsurplus has great prices and deals, but depending on how much you buy from them, their shipping can kill the deal. Sometimes it goes up to $45-50 for just one crate of 7.62x39 ammo or 5.45.
