Default Interesting info about Buds Gun Shop

I just had a customer order a firearm from jetguns.com, which when I looked up their information it stated that their name was "Buds Gun Shop". So, since BudsGunShop.com has a copy of my FFL, I called to associate the order with my FFL, but learned something quite interesting instead.

It seems that BudsGunShop.com decided to use the name from another place in the same state. Needless to say that this has resulted in a lawsuit. I was told that the original should be getting their name back. They were forced to change their name on the building, in part due to the bad name that has been given to the name.

So, if budsgunshop.com suddenly disappears, you will know what happened. This could also present some future issues with people placing orders since a judgment could bankrupt budsgunshop.com.

The original Buds Gun Shop was forced to change the name on the building because of the bad name that the other Buds Gun Shop has given the name. Look for negative issues with "Buds Gun Shop" and if that was really your name, would you want to be associated with that name?

The online company called Buds that you are familiar with is the company which is using the name from another company (which is now operating as Jetguns, although their FFL still has their old name).

The bad Bud's is not operating as Jetguns.

Have you been drinking? I am still lost.

The familiar Buds on line = good Buds or bad Buds?

Let me see if I got it right:

there was a FFL called Buds

Another company started using the same name and it is now huge and has a well know website

The initial buds changed the store front name to jetguns and is suing the big websiteto get it's name back but also says that the big website has ruined the reputation of the name

The company we all know as buds (website) might had to change names

Yep.

The original was not just called "Buds", it was called "Buds Gun Shop". Both are in Kentucky, actually only 15 miles away from each other. The original only changed their name after the other started doing business under the same name.

Depending on the profit of the website Buds and the size of any judgment against them, it is possible that could bankrupt the website Buds. Could the website Buds change names and still stay is business? If they lose, the website name would no longer be under their control, which would make it hard for people to find them again.

And I was just thinking about ordering from "Buds" to try them out!
Glad I went with a local shop instead...

Moral of the story, ...don't order from Buds!

Don't order from which Buds Gun Shop? :-)

In looking at the BATF FFL database, there are currently three "Buds Gun Shop". There used to be some others, but it seems that their licenses changed. What is now Jetguns.com was licensed before the website Buds.

That's just the name on the FFLs they have been sending to me with the firearms that people have ordered from Bud's Gun Shop. Their FFL used to say Buds Gun Shop.

The Shady one.
which ever one that is...
:-)

I was JUST about to order an item on Monday from Bud's web site; it
happened that what I wanted was out of stock just as I went on line to
order. I opted to be updated when it became available again on their web
site.

In the mean time, ten minutes later, I found the exact item, for $50 less than
Bud's!, in stock with a vendor here on the board. I sent an email to confirm
availability, a few mintes later got a reply. A few mintes after that, he got
my order!

That was Monday, UPS just updated the shipment info today, delivery this
Friday. Dealer said come on down and fondle it while we do your paperwork
Friday.

Glad I didn't order from Buds!
Support your local vendors!

How's this for Clarification...

Buds (the big online gunshop) has been found guilty of trademark infringement. Depending on how hard they get hit with the judgment, they may go belly up.

Clearly, if you where about to open an 0nline gunshop you would want to steal the name "Buds Gun Shop"...

I mean it's the best name ever for a firearm store.

I don't know that there has been a judgment against them yet, but I was told that it was in process.

Considering that the FFL database shows the other as having a FFL first and that the distance between the two places is 15 miles (driving), it seems likely that it might not go well for them.

Jet guns is cheaper any ways if Buds go's away. But let's hope they don't, There's room for the both of them. I prefer Jet Guns though.

All will be resolved in due time. Too much $$ to lose for buds online to go away. Bet a name change of some sort is in the works. The infrastructure and sheer size of the operation begs for a viable company here. Tens of thousands of guns a year is a massive undertaking in anyone's book.

That is the name that they are known by and they would lose a lot of money suddenly disappearing as they would have to give up their website. It would also be an admission of what they did.

In many cases, the people think that they can win.

The better question is why would they use a name from a shop 15 miles away.

Well, I received a firearm from jetguns.com yesterday and the FFL was included and the FFL shows that it is Buds Gun Shop and Security Safe Outlet.

You don't need the FFL, you can use the address that it came from, which should also be listed on the CFLC letter.

I agree. I am not sure why they did not include a copy. Could it have gotten mixed in with the packing material? It was just a half sheet of paper.
