Default Best price on Remington 870 18.5 inch barrel

I'm looking to get a 18.5 inch barrel for my Remington 870 for home defense. I currently have a 28 inch which I would like to keep for skeet and trap shooting. The lowest price I could find for a basic bead dot sight was $117 on amazon for a Mossberg made 18 inch matte barrel for the 870. My local gun shop has them for $129. is this pretty much the best price? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks CG.

Get a second gun. If it is only home defense then you can find a solid platform for not much more than that. Sports Authority had the H&R Pardner 12 gauge shotgun w/ 18" barrel going for $149 all last week but it is normally only $179. This gun is almost an exact replica of the 870 only about a pound heavier and since you will only be using it for HD then it is a perfect choice to your problem, plus you get a whole extra gun. You won't spend much more and you will have a gun specifically designated for HD. Personally I think that is a much better choice than switching out barrels depending on if you are at home or hunting. I know that doesn't answer your question just my .02 cents.

Call Remington.... if memory serves a factory 18.5 inch cylinder bore barrel is ~$120.

ETA: If you are willing to sit on a backorder for a bit, Midway has parkerized 18.5 inch cylinder choked barrels for $109.

No, on the Remington parts list the 18.5" cyl bore matte finish bead sight is $134. The 18.5" bead sight I/C parkerized is $101.

Both are listed on gun broker. The 18.5" matte finish one is listed for $110 and the guy has about 40 of them. The 18.5 parkerized bead sight I/C is $100 and he has about 20 of those.

Beware of that CDNN barrel as it is not a New Remington barrel as Remington bead sight barrels have the bead pressed into a base that is braised on to the barrel. Also, Remington does not make a 20" matte finish bead sight barrel like that. Beware of that mess.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.
