Default The $49 Mosin

got this a while back and it's just been sitting in the safe. It's a Mosin '36 Tula that the reciever is scrubbed, no importer marks, but the marks are still on the tang under on the rear of the reciever. Decided to restore some of it's pride and dignity. The stock had pretty much been hacked down and rounded of then refinished. the front sight is a 1903 springfield blade, the barrel had been cut down to 22" the recrown was done by a gun shop locally and the bolt handle had been heated and twisted over at the same time.

So I found a cheap M38 stock. This is what she looks like now with the new stock.

at the range she shoots nice, can do 4" at 100y if I do my part

Russian?

OP, Did you buy this off CL or the Flea Market?

Good for you! Gunplumbing is becoming my favorite pastime.

Yup, Mosin Nagant

found it in a gun shop back in PA before I moved out here, one of the few guns I brought with me to work on while here for two years with work.

SCW= Spanish Civil War.

Non-import marked 1936 Tula in a pre war stock...that certainly fits the profile. OP, does the rifle have either "made in ussr" or "made in urrs" stamped on the receiver? Does it have "MP8" stamped anywhere on the stock? (on some SCW rifles, the mp8 is stamped on the stock underneath the buttplate). Does the rear sight base have pins in it?

The spanish civil war guns were imported in late 50s/early 60s. If you have ever seen an old gun magazine with advertisements for milsurps, any 91/30 in the most likely came from spain.

M38 stock? As in it doesn't have a M44 bayonet cut on the right side? Where did you find that?
