Default Lower question

I have decided to build an AR and have a question. I was looking at the JD Industries lowers and was suprised to see such a difference in price when it comes to a 223 and a 308. Why the difference in price? Will the rest of the parts be much more expensive with a 308 instead a 223?

Short answer, yes.

7.62x51 ARs can be waaay more expensive than a 5.56mm

.308s are generally more expensive in the long run. Before you decide on the lower, you should know the exact set-up you want to achieve for a .308 build. Certain uppers are only compatible with certain lowers. I found out the hard way when I bought a POF lower and wanted to use an armalite upper. Didn't quite work out.

Since it is my first build I think I will do a 223 first. Once I have this one built I will then build my 308.

Thanks for the replys.

Now where to go in Sacramento for my JD lower?

Wasn't going to say that because you could buy one of those Remington 308 rifles for about a grand and there are plenty of 5.56Mm that cost more than that:-)
