Default Best "IDPA Legal" Magwell for Glock ESP Class.

Hello all,
I am looking for the Best IDPA Legal Magwell for a 4th Gen Glock 35 and a 3rd Gen Glock 23. Any Suggestions?

Question, why do you want to shoot your Glock in ESP instead of SSP? You are going up against 1911's with short reset triggers.

The JP magwell works.

The Dawson ice will fit in the box (very tightly..barely) but you won't be able to use the brass/metal insert/plug since it will most likely put the G34 over weight.

I'm not so sure it would put it overweight, as long as you don't get the heavy one. I'll weigh my G35 with the ICE magwell when I get home tonight.

I will tell you that one of the ROs at my club has one on his Glock and uses it for ESP. And he is the one that is a stickler for the rules.

The thing about the brass "plug" (Dawson calls it a different kind of plug, but the filters would probably nix it), is that it is NOT the magwell. IDPA rules don't allow for brass magwells. The Dawson ICE is aluminum with a plastic insert. It is mounted to the gun through a brass plug.

It looks like Dawson Precision addressed this issue and made a plug out of steel for IDPA.

Edit: now this one would definitely be illegal : http://www.dawsonprecision.com/Produ...001-1140131611

Yea it seems like it depends which one you get.

I wasn't aware Dawson made a different plug to keep people safe.

Good info.

In my previous experience, the people with the lowest times are usually in the SSP Class. I usually find that the ESP class is a lot less competitive than even the CDP class as well.

I already have a 9mm 1911 and a CZ 75 Shadow with short resetting triggers.

I wish there was a way to add a Magwell to my CZ 75 that was easy to install and would actually have some benefit. The one from the CZ custom shop seems like a hassle to install for the amount of benefit I would actually get from it.

This has been my observation too. Sometimes the same shooter shoots with both rigs (an SSP gun and ESP gun) at the same match and his SSP scores higher. Go figure.

Do you see this at more than one club? Way back when I was shooting IDPA from 1998 to about 2005, ESP was tougher than SSP around the SoCal clubs.

SuperSet,This has been my observation too. Sometimes the same shooter shoots with both rigs (an SSP gun and ESP gun) at the same match and his SSP scores higher. Go figure. If the shooter runs ESP first, then SSP, I would belive that, but only one score counts.

JaeOne3345, Now now, Mr. Glock in limited against all the 2011's.... Yes, and minor to boot!!! My gig in IDPA was to run my G21 in CDP at 8+1 in the sticks. But I also used to load it down to minor for SSP, 230 gr bullet going about 580 fps, you could actually watch it go downrange, like a cowboy load.

by the way, I finally clocked my Montana Gold 115JHHP's at 1,200 fps and the 125 Bear Creeks a little over 1,100 fps, out of the G17L.

Cool! Thanks for the invite to the chronograph party, sir!

Sounds like you can download em a bit, eh?

I'll be there Saturday. Carlos A. has been coaching me on some things.

Jae, I'll bring my chrono again this Saturday. Brian didn't want to run his loads 2 weeks ago, and we missed last Saturday all together.
