If i didn't already have 10k rounds of .22lr I would be tempted to buy that much again.

Thats 36 grain, OP specified 40grain or higher which will always cost more. However the federal bulk packs are usually the best economically and do well on varmints. Bring your phone in with you and do the cost per round calculation at the ammo case.

It's hard to beat Walmart only because there is always something on the shelf. Spend an hour searching online for a good feel for deals and prices.
Sportsmans Guide, Cabelas, Natchez Shooter Supplies and many more.

Turners sale ends Thursday 11/3/11 they have the Blazer value pack 525 rounds for $13.99. They are 40gr. lead round nose 1235 FPS limit 2 customer. The bad thing is that deal is only good in the Kerney Mesa store in San Diego....

+1

I bought a case of 5000 a few months ago. They shoot well in my M&P 15-22. They're not great for my CZ75 SP-01 with a Kadet kit (may be due to reduced power mainspring) and have yet to try them in my GSG 1911.

Not as cheap as some others, but it's available at Big 5s everywhere, on sale thru 11/5:

http://big5sportinggoods.shoplocal.c...90629&offerid=

(I always pick up a box when it goes on sale.)

I know that the Walmart in murrieta sells ammo, Federal 550 rd .22lr packs for $18.95, and 100 rd Federal birdshot shotgun boxes for $22.

Can't beat the Walmart bulk pack Federals are a lot more consistent and accurate then the Remington Golden bullets. And, this is true for all four, soon to be five 22LR rifles I own - pickup a Henry H001 from jail tomorrow, wooohoooo....!

But if you need to squeeze out the upmost accuracy those Wolf 22LRs are the suppose to be top notch but Blazers get pretty close for 1/2 the price....

For me, with shipping, it comes out the same as buying it from Big5 when on sale. But if I lived close to Palmetto, I'd be buying it there for sure. $14.99 is an awesome price.

CCI Blazer is the best all-around bulk .22 ammo in my experience. Hundreds of rounds through my 22/45 so far and no failures of ANY kind, no misfires, and it's more accurate than me.

I think he was responding to your statement about if you are living near Palmetto. With their %6 sales tax, that would only come out to $15.89/box, still a very good price.

Anybody know the difference between the CCI ammo listed above, and the CCI ammo currently on sale at Big 5:

http://big5sportinggoods.shoplocal.c...39433&offerid=

Previous stuff was $20 for 525 rounds.
This stuff is $22 for 500 rounds.

So the current stuff is a little more $$$ for less rounds (and packaging is different; also says "High Velocity" on the box).

Is it loaded hotter? Anybody shoot them both and see a difference?

I just bought 2100 rounds of the Federal bulk pack stuff from Cabelas for 69.99

http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shoot...3Bcat104536080

Also comes with a dry box which I am unsure of the quality of but I will find out soon enough.

Obviously the shipping can kill you but they have a deal on shipping if you are ordering over $150 worth of stuff which I was anyway.

Yes it is the cost of packaging. Costs less to dump 525 rounds into one box than package 50 into those plastic holders and then into the box. Rimfirecentral.com folks say its the exact same ammo. Well most do. Some same the 525 round boxes are made by Federal while the 50 round boxes are made by CCI. I personally doubt that.

The other aspect is that the loose packed 525 round boxes could potentially cause dings in the bullets and affect accuracy. For target shooting that should be a consideration, for soda cans, clay pidgeons and squirrels it wouldn't matter.

Go to Walmart and buy the 375 Federal packs. Around $13 each and a much better deal than the 575 packs that go for $19. It's the best bulk ammo I've found.

Blazer is great for shooting paper but it doesnt work well on varmints. Headshots only with Blazer. I use CCI MiniMags 36 grain hollow point. Not sure why you must have 40 grain since the MiniMags are awesome to use against varmints.

At first glance you may look at the boxes and go "plastic" but they are really great. A lot more comfy to carry around then metal, don't clank out loud either, and hold a hole bunch more ammo than that 2100 rounds they ship. $69.99 is $5 to $10 less then normal....they normally have it at 74.99 and 79.99 when free shipping is out there.

69.99 / 2100 = .333 a round but no sales tax and its actually a tad less if you order $150 and use the $20 off coupon + the free ammo box per unit - I just ordered 2 cause I needed the boxes and like the ammo.

PS...it is not 40 gr or higher though; but it kills all kinds of critters. I've had no trouble killing rattlers with this stuff. I use it in a 10/22, 77/22, Revolver, ppks 22, and MKII

Just received a Cabela's coupon for $15 off 50. So I bought the federal bulk back deal again with the free ammo box. Net of coupon and including shipping was $66 which works out to $16.50 per 525 rounds, plus the free box and who doesn't love a nice tight box, espeically when it's free!!!
