Cannon, I know my post is not the answer to your question, but I thought I'd share a neat and TRUE story....

When I turned 10, my dad gave me my first rifle... A single shot Winchester .22 LR bolt gun (Model-60). The gun was my dad's first gun at age 10 as well and will soon by my son's first gun.

This gun is sooo accurate, and it's NOT a special "bull barrel" or anything like that. It has the BEST iron sights I've ever used before on ANY gun. The trigger is smooth, crips and extremely light! Dad always said that he never "tuned" the gun at all. He just took care of it. The gun is sooo accurate, that one could hit the birth mark off of a fly at 100 yards!

This was the gun that when my dad took me to the range, he bet me $5.00 that he could hit a clay pigeon afixed on a target stand at exactly 200 yards....with iron sights from a bench rest..... ON THE FIRST SHOT!

Well, at that young age, I really had no idea about "range" and especially with a .22 rimfire round. Well, my dad set up on the bench rest, checked his elevation and windage for a bit, positioned his cheek on the comb of the gun, waited,,,,,waited,,,,,waited,,,,,, { { { B-A-N-G } } }! Then "POOOF", the clay pigeon disintigrated!

Well to this day, I've never been able to shoot that well, but my dad was a gun nut and fanatical marksman most of his life! My dad always INSISTED that marksman ship was the ULTIMATE most important factor when shooting. I personally can't even see the target behind the front sight at 200 yards, let alone 100 yards!!! But, I am pretty accurate with it. Killing a rabbit at a great distance is no problem when I'm not shaking or breathing too hard. The gun itself has a better ability than I do.

My point of this story.... They don't make single shot .22's like they used to! Well, actually they probably do, but I'm sure those types just cost a whole lot more $$$.

....Oh, dad never made me pay that $5.00!

Memories.

That's the one. I found one of Gun Broker but of course. "No California Sales." Sent them an email to see if they would take my Calif. bids on it. We'll see.

Still trying to find one though.

TpT, My Dad taught mr to shoot on the hex barreled Marlin .22 lever action his Dad taught him on.

Months later and still no luck. But the search goes on!

Let me know if you come across one.
