Default Bernelli Ultra Light Opinions?

Another Upland season kicks off and I'm reminded why I dislike my heavy 7 lb shotgun as I carry it across another mountain in an attempt to find those allusive birds.

I've started looking at lighter shotguns and the 20ga Bernelli Ultra Light seems to be the lightest available that still has a good punch to it. The 20ga shot shells are about the same price as my 12ga so that's not a negative. California only lets us carry 2+1 rounds for bird hunting anyways, so its limited capacity isn't an issue. As far as I can tell, it will even shoot steel shot; God forbid California makes lead-free a requirement at some point.

So does anyone own one and use it? Like it? Pros/Cons you've found? Any other suggestions that fit the bill?

Thanks!

I have found a light 20 kicks harder the a regular 12. The Benelli is not a gas operated gun, it is inertia operated. If recoil isn't a worry then the Benelli is a very good gun.

From the reviews I've read a limb-saver recoil pad will help a lot with the kick. But I don't know since I don't have one. Thanks for the confirmation that it does have more snap to it.

limb saver on my nova was night and day... First time out went through 60 shells and felt everyone of them for the next few days. Then found a limb saver at a local sporting good store, installed, put 200 shells through it and could not tell I even went shooting the next day.

I have the benelli ultra light in 12 gauge and love it. I go pheasant hunting in Rio Vista and it is way better then my 12 gauge super nova. I have used it for trap shooting but you will notice your shoulder will hurt the next few days but is nothing that will stop you from doing anything. I just figure use the ultra light for hunting a some trap shooting and something a little heavier (I use my super nova) for trap, skeet or sporting clays.
