That's perfect. I work at Jamboree and I5, then live down in Mission Viejo (I5 & Oso) so you're not far away at all.

OlegK....I'm getting ready make a similar order.

So...if I order 4 (8lbs each) jugs..I don't have to pay the $20 hazmat fee?

Also...is that a special deal for the group buy...or is that their standard deal for everyone?

Same deal for anyone. I'm going to order 5 8#s of 844 & 1 8# of 846. I under stand that they is less 223/308 being pulled down now so the surplus stuff may be drying up in the near future. Very few suprplus pulled 223 bullets around either. I just bought 5,000 62 gr to put away for a rainy day or SHTF.

I live in Northwood so your location is perfect.

Whitesmoke,
This is standard deal.
If you want you can order 4 jugs directly from Pat. You will not pay hazmat fee.
Shipment cost is going to be $43
80 x 4 + $43

This group buy makes sense only if you buy less then 4 jugs. This case you split shipment and don't py haz fees

I removed the bullets from offering, because of luck ot interest.
It seems the Golden West Bullets is more attractive.

Thanks for the info....the reason I asked was because I was thinking of trying to start a group buy for guys around here. I only wanted to buy 2 or 3 jugs...so I'd need somebody else to jump on for a few more.

Thanks again for the info....very helpful.

Sorry Oleg, just haven't made it to the bank yet. I'll do that today, grab a money order and drop it in the mailbox. Already have an envelope sitting at my desk with your name and address on it.

OK, One jug is yours.
Can you settle on WC-846 if they they happens to be out (of WC-844) or some kind long delay expected? In the order we have WC-846, except you.

Have you found 5.56 load data for the WC-846? All that I've found is that .pdf over on AR15.com which lists WC-844 for the 5.56 and WC-846 for the 7.62x51.

I have seen post with WC-846 for .223.
http://thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-7387.html
http://www.ak47.net/lite/topic.html?b=1&f=9&t=538373

Load data almost useless with military powder. Each poder batch will have slight difference. It makes sense start with buttom load and move up.
Another thing, correct me if I am wrong, for all rifle powders for .308 loads start at 42 gr or close. Unlike pistol powders where loads differ greatly for the same caliber. Maximum load might differ, because powder specifics comes to play on max loads or close. But, we are not intending to perform a miracles with military powder loads anyway.

Since there is .223 load data for the WC846 I'll take that if the WC844 is not available or significantly delays shipment of the order. I'm not planning on loading to max since I don't have a chrono to test it with, just planning to start at the bottom and work up to the mid-point of the recommended loads. Certainly keeping a close eye on the cases and primers as I start shooting it. Not going for accuracy, just inexpensive plinking ammo.

At that price...I'll just buy 8lbs cannisters of powder from grafs, etc. Almost the same price with my C&R.

I think this is supply-demand balance. I wasnít able to find another supplier. He got a lot of orders recently.
Why not to jack-up prices.
The new price doesnít make it attractive anymore.

One more week up to two weeks.

Default You can pick-up your order

Shipment cost total is little more than $55 esimated.
It is $57

jmlivingston WC-844 1 jug $80 X 1 + $10 X 1(units) = $89 (Payment received on 02/21) Total due: $1.00

RingTone WC-846 ($240 down payment received on 02/18) Total due: 80.00 x 3 + 28.5 (shipment) - 240 = $28.5

Cool What I use......

I've been shooting 844-846 powder for awhile in .223 and .308 Here are the loads.....223-55 or 62gr use 25gr of 844or 846. For the heavier bullets use 23.5gr of 846 for the 77 and 80gr.....If you get 69gr sierra's use 24.5gr of 844.
OAL on the lighter bullets 55,62 and 69 should be 2.25. that way they will fit in the magazine, also the 77gr, the 80's OAL will be somewhere in the 2.45 range

Using 846 for .308 I just recently used 43.5gr of 846 for a 173gr bullet with OAL of 2.84....The Army manual says 44gr of 846. These rounds worked fine and I will be loading some up for long range. The manual also says to use 4895 or 846

Gunsrruss,
Thanks for load data post. Is this recent batch from Pat's reloading? Burn rate might vary for different batches.
OAL 2,84 for .308 souns to much to me.
I just measured OAL for AR-10 it is about 2,845 - 2,850. It seems I have to make AOL 2,83. Ohh.. it probably depends on bullet profile. I measured with West Brass 168gr bullets.

I bought all my powder from either Pats or GIbrass.com. I've used this stuff for years. No complaints Having become an NRA Master sense I started using this powder it is obvious that these loads will work
On the .308, the Overall length is 2.84 for the long range loads. This keeps the pressures in check. Normal .308 would be 2.80. For years I always tried to have my bullets within .010 of lans. For me that was a waiste of time Once you have loads that work try not to change the way you do business because someone says his powder works better. I've found that the 23.5gr of 846 is the same grs. that 4 or 5 of the better powders out there call for for the same round Hope you guys have a good experence with your loads and will compete with the rest of us at the Matches.
By the way, my .223 rifles have 1X8 barrels and the .308 are 1X 10-12 This helps also with the shooting

Gunsrrruss,
Could you explain how you come to OAL 2.84 without using "of land" measure?
It has to be bullet/chamber specific AOL. It means it shoots perfect in your rifle with your bullets, but might not be the best for my rifle chamber/bullet combination.
I was undere impression that OAL lenght derived from leanding OAL minus (.010 - .015).
Another way is take fixed powder charge and go up with OAL till bullet almost lends to rifling and find the best combination. Forgive me if I am wrong. Just making first steps in the reloading

High power shooters, and thats some of them, set their OAL 10-15 back from lans. We all tried that too I worked at it a lot. I finally came to the realization that for me it didn't mean a hill of beans You see you have some reloaders out there that are weighing bullets and cases, segregating them into piles so they are all the same when loaded. If you look at the reloading book it will give you an OAL for specific loads not to lans. The guys trying to make the most perfect round are the ones who try for the 10-15 from lans. They are also some of the ones who are weighing all their componets., and yes all this extra stuff works, but you may not be a good enough shooter to see it. Someday you will be. I'm an NRA Master and I still don't do any of that stuff. I feel that I spend enough time prossesing brass and working up loads. Why would I want to add hours of tedius work to what I am already doing. You do what you feel you need to do. If your bullets extend into the lans and groves that is not a bad thing. With Match rifles it sometimes is better to try to get it as close to lans as possible. There will be those who disagree with what I just said. The loads I gave you work for me and others that I've talked to. Get your loads down then work on your technic so you can be a better rifle shooter. Listen to people at the range and use your own common sense as to what is right. Try not to make your shooting experence to complicated

Cool Spending money....

Your friends and folks at the range all have a way to reload. It comes down to money." Oh, I bought this because it does that" I spent money on stuff that I still haven't used. It looks pretty in the packages and I do have it, but what I'm doing now works, and I win matches with it. So if I run into that person who knows all and wants it I'll let it go. Reluctantly I must add. I wish you guys luck. Like I said keep your eyes and ears open at the range. There's a lot to learn there. Watch how people shoot different rifles. Alignment is the key to being on target. Breathing is the key to hitting the bullseye

As you shoot more and reload you will see what I'm talking about. Everyone has an angle on how to best reload. You just have to figure out for yourself what works for you, and try not to spend to much money I use the Pact powder and scale set up. I found this saves me tons of time not having to use a ballancing beam. I also use the RCBS electric Pro trimmer with three way cutters. This saves me a ton of time processing brass Once I got those two items reloading became less of a chore You can spend hours processing brass. To the extent that you don't want to look at it anymore. I don't mind passing on this information because I spent way to much money on stuff that I just didn't need.

Thanks Oleg for putting this together.

Everyone: I picked up my powder from him earlier this week, another nice CalGunner to do business with.
