Everyone from Victorville to Baker hunts or hunted that area for years, Back in the 70's it was a great place, today I wouldn't waste my time! imo I have a place at Yermo rd, so I kinda have an insight here. Go futher out of Baker, or out of Cronise Valley/Mountains but you will need a 4X4....

I agree with Toby. I worked at station 46 in Harvard for years as a firefighter....I used to go north east of the station towards the far northern end of the fort and hunt up there a bit west of Afton Canyon (west side) of the freeway. Lots of yotes up that way in the hills. I work in Highland now and we see TONS of coyotes here every night.....wish I could hunt here!

I'm not bragging, but there's tons of coyotes out there. I get them to this day and it's not that hard. I don't hunt right on the city limit line, but there's more coyotes out there than there are hunters. What am I doing right? It's not magic, anyone can do the same.

While I have not hunted that specific spot, I do see quite a few dead coyotes along 10 mile and JH pass. I gotta assume they are there. Badger too!

I guess some guy's have all the luck....... The last two dogs I shot near town weighed in at about 25# and were mangey as heck, looked more like domestic inbreeds which I'm sure are are plenty off. They are where you find them..

That area has gobs of coyotes, but we hunt them night and day and if you don't get them early in the season they become harder to get. Change up tactics and listen to Toby especially if you aren't local, locals have more time to spend on schooled coyotes. I hunt from Mojave all the way to Needles and then north and south. The clubs do too and they put a hurting on the coyotes and if the don’t we have more schooled coyotes.

You need a hunting license to hunt coyotes, right? (unless one bum rushes your tent and you shoot it in self-defense, hehe).

I tried hunting yotes there, no bueno. But that may be all my fault. I did see a cougar working a small area in Barstow...she was drinking a Seabreeze (cranberry & vodka).

I am sure they are there it's like any other public place they get called and shot at and when people miss they get smarter.Go out early in the morning and give it a try go all day change up the sounds.
I had some luck with raccoon kitten distress.

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.
