I usually try and buy surplus powders if possible.....the last 8lbs jugs of
IMR 4895 I got from Wideners for about $10 a pound. Remember...they will all charge you a $20 hazmat fee too. So that makes it $12.50 a lbs.

I hassle Dustin at Ammobros mercilessly, until he finally remembers to get me my components.

I find that you either need to buy in bulk or pick it up at the gunshow to get away from the hazmat shipping. Sometimes you have to buy a pound of this or a pound of that but primers I always buy in at least 5K quantities and basic bulk rifle and pistol powders can be had from places like Widener's, Jeff Bartlett, Pat's reloading, etc. Take a look in the classified section of any ShotGun News and you will find all of these people and more.

We usually get 4-5 people together and do an online buy 2-3 times a year from Powder Valley or Grafs to share the Hazmat and shipping. These 2 places have evrything I need and are great to deal with.

Fowlers and The Stockade have the best in-store supply of reloading gear and components of any SoCal store I've been to with decent prices for a retail outlet. In a pinch, I'll buy from them, but your best option is still to order online, especially with a C&R (Curio & Relic FFL) discount for reloading equipment through Midway or Grafs.
