Default How an open carry encounter goes in Oregon...

Lasts about 3 nanoseconds. Keep in mind these facts:

1. They are very young

2. They were at an Albertsons

3. He had both a rifle and a handgun

4. Notice that the cops are very well-informed (as opposed to Commiefornia)

5. Notice that no 4th Amendment, or attempted 4th Amendment violations took place

6. Share your thoughts on what you think would have happened in California

This UOC is a forking moron, just trying to provoke the cops. Right out of the gates demanding credentials? Really? STFU dude. How does that help anyone's cause?

Handled greatly by the LEO.

That's my point - the LEO's were not like they are here. He was asking for trouble. He's lucky. Lucky to be alive really.

" Lucky to be alive really."

The kid's a douche but the way you phrased this implies you think he had a shooting death coming his way. I'm sure you meant something else.

If this was California, SWAT would be coming out guns blazing. Everyone would call and scream man with a gun etc. etc. and then Rosie Ol Donald will come out and scream some anti-gun crap. Doing what they did in Oregon would very very bad here.

handled well by all.

Civilian:
Asked for credentials up front. Good call. He knew what the answer was going to be, but he asked.

He Shut up when asked to.

He voiced his opinion

He complied with LAWFUL directions.

Officer:
Took charge of situation.

Kept side issues to a minimum

Directed civilian to go on his way.

To anyone who says they were punks... Rosa Parks was an old fat black female punk too then. She told the Officers who asked her to get in the back of the bus to STFU and just do whatever they wanted to her, she was not scared nor was she going to move on her own power.

Some times in order to get the laws changed, or at least applied equally to the citizens, you have to piss Officers off. You have to challenge their authority. You have to be a punk.

*rolls eyes*

Those cops handled things well.

The kids are douchebags. There was no need for them to act that way.

These kids were trolls, plain and simple. They're just as bad as that *** hat from the east who went into a park with a draco. If you know or should reasonably know that OCing will bring the law down on you and your only concern is to show people that you can, then you are an idiot.

This isn't to say if you OC for self defense regardless of there being a "real" threat. The fact that the video quality looked like the kid had something better than a camera phone on his person speaks to their intentions.

The kids were goading the officers in what looked to be an attempt to show a poor LEO example of how they handle the open carry scenario. The officers acted appropriately...the kids were punks

I agree.

However I also agree that the kids are indeed very lucky and the leo handled it extremely well. They really didn't come off as DBish.

I don't think douches listen. Kid was definitely playing with fire there.

Did the "kids" call the cops ? No

Do the "kids" have the right to ask the cop for their name and badge number ? Yes

Do the police have a legal obligation to provide that ? Yes

Did the police provide it ? No

Were the "kids" acting lawfully ? Yes

Were the police acting lawfully ? Apparently not

Is open carry legal ? Yes

Do you like open carry ? Apparently not.

Do you and the Brady Bunch sound alot alike ? Yes

IMO open carrying for the sake of open carrying and causing disturbances does nothing to further our cause.

That guy is an idiot. It would also help if he would slow down when he's talking so you could actually understand what he's saying...

Wake up.

These imbeciles do absolutely nothing for the 2A cause and a wider public acceptance of it. Walking around in a store parking lot with a rifle and a pistol just because you can? Give me a break dude. Did you even watch the video? Lisp boy starts spouting off "credentials" before the cop can get a word out. His sole intention was to antagonize and create a scene. Thankfully (and luckily for him) the LE are trained well.

We live in a world of the sheeple where people are genuinely afraid of these things due to Columbine, Virginia Tech and the like. They see kids with guns in public and they equate that to the terrible acts of recent memory. open carry in instances like these are a waste to all parties involved. Open carry has it's place and purpose; these kids were doing neither.

[QUOTE=xwarriorxx;7228897]Did the "kids" call the cops ? No but obviously something tipped the officers off to an issue

Do the "kids" have the right to ask the cop for their name and badge number ? Yes....but in a respectful manner. Not yelling at them that they are recording them on video and audio.

Do the police have a legal obligation to provide that ? Maybe but I think the main officer saw through the punk's intentions

Did the police provide it ? No

Were the "kids" acting lawfully ? Maybe...they were trespassing according to the property owner which the officer stated...probably for having a gun on the premises

Were the police acting lawfully ? Apparently so..they diffused the situation and clearly outlined the rules going forward

Is open carry legal ? Yes

Do you like open carry ? I think that concealed carry is the best option until guns are not viewed as the great evil as they are now. Oregon has an 8 minute process for an out of state citizen to apply...Oregon residents get it even faster. This kid could have concealed carried if licensed but obviously likes stirring up the public

Do you and the Brady Bunch sound alot alike ? No...I appreciate my gun rights and don't want punks like this ruining my ability to protect myself in the future.

Agreed, I could barely understand what he was attempting to say from beneath what sounded like some pretty nasty mouth-installed barbed wire (braces). Snot nosed punks with barely a clue... helping no one.. .

Ok, let's get real for a second here.....

Do you honestly think that a young kid, armed with a rifle and a handgun, aimlessly walking around the Abertsons parking lot in Pasadena during the middle of the day, ISN'T going to have dozens of cops descend on him with guns drawn with the possibility for firing said weapons????

Who's kidding who? It would be national news. It would be scandalous. It would result in the state legislature drafting up a new anti-gun bill before you could say "anti-gun bill."

If I was walking out the front door of Albertsons and some punk kid was coming at me with a rifle and a handgun he would have been sprawled out on the pavement at the very least... So yeah, "lucky to be alive" is probably a valid statement.

I'm probably gonna stir up a sh*t storm by saying this but people who open carry in suburban areas are stupid and just screaming for attention... And, if they did happen to get caught in the middle of an armed robbery, they just made themselves the first target.

I've never really been a fan of "let's do this because we can and the cops have to let us" attitude. Yes, they were complying with the law. Yes, they had a right to, but still. I think it's just poking things with a stick.

^^^^^^^^^^ This is the droid you are looking for ^^^^^^^^^^

Don't you guys get it? This is WHY these kids are dumb and why it is something to (for lack of a better phrase) get worked up over. These UOC acts go a lot further in harming everyone's 2A rights than doing any good.

It's America. Yea, we have RTKABA. Get over yourself though kid. At this stage of the game it is become a privilege and no longer a God given right. We have to fight to maintain it or sink into a police state as other countries have.
