Very nice gun!! What are you going to feed it? I have found every 1911 I have owned, loves a standard 200g. #68 H&G over 5.7g. of Universal Clays.

Where are you located? If in the Bay Area we need to get together! I have a Baer TRS I would like to compare it to. Sammy

Very nice. The finish looks interesting. What is it?

I about had a stroke when I saw the first pic. That little light glare above the trigger looks just like a really aggressive idiot mark!

I just noticed that mark...its glare..the gun is scratch free. The finish is their GEN III finish. It just looks like a high quality powder coating that you see on most metals, but tastefully done.

Two people have already asked me "Wow, Ed Brown off the shelf? Pretty rare." I know that these are customs and not production, but I didn't know that they are pretty hard to come by when it comes to display model. I guess when they are on the shelf they don't last long before someone buys it up

Well, I took it to the range and put 500 rounds though that badboy. It shoot great. As I was going through each box and shooting more, I notice the grouping getting tighter and tighter.
The Ed Brown jammed three times, but I blame my grip. It stovepipe'd once, and 3 times the slide wouldn't lock properly. Other than that, it one of the finest hand guns I've ever own. It's wonderful when you are not really trying to aim and you are hitting dead one at 10 yards

Beautiful gun. I like the chain link pattern. I have a chainlink mainspring housing planned for my XSE.

I don't think it's you. It might just be the gun. I've heard that on these modern 1911's from high end manufacturer's, because of the tighter tolerances there is a break in period. Usually somewhere between 500 and 1000 rounds, depending on manufacturer.

Brown's tend to be one of the few 1911's out there that don't really need a break in due to tolerances/level of fitting.

Mine's run 100% since day one. Only have 2500 rounds through it but it's been flawless through them all.

It was a little of both. I will take better photos when I get a better camera.
I did noticed that when the slide wouldn't go all the way forward, I racked the slide back (after disconnecting the mag) to eject the round stuck in the chamber. The round wouldnt come out and I had to tip the gun upright to make the unfired 45 fall out. I never experienced this before. Is this normal?

Factory or reloads? could be just a weird round or tight chamber - shoot the hell out of it and see what happens..

I just ordered a SF's - how is the finish holding up??

I have a Stainless KC and it runs GREAT - might sell it IF I really like the SF's wanted a full size..

It's not abnormal for a Brown. He doesn't cut the little flare at the front of the ejection port that will allow a live RN round to clear. A JHP will eject but a 230 gr. RN will not make it all the time. My KC is the same way.

One of my Baers also won't clear a 230 gr. RN. but does fine with any OAL less than 1.255.

GEN III is a spray and bake coating with teflon, like many other "proprietary" finishes.
