Default Has anyone tried Tech Sights for AK

I just purchased a Tech sight for my saiga 5.45. It replaces the spring retainer and the dust cover, with a Peep sight and tech sight spring retainer and dust cover. Any one have any zeroing advice??

You now essentially have M1/M14/AR15 sights on your Saiga. It'll zero accordingly. Adjust for windage using the wheel on the side of the rear sight and adjust elevation via the front sight post.

Remember, "The rear sight is your friend and the front sight is your enemy." Meaning that the rear sight moves in the direction you want your shots to go -- if you want to move your group to the left, you move the rear sight aperture to the left. But the front sight, being your enemy, deceptively moves in the opposite direction. If you want your shots to go up, you want to adjust the front sight post down.

Just get into a good stable position and fire five rounds, check your target, and adjust accordingly. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Thanx.
Cant say I know who nutnfancy is but seems like you dont like him.
Has anyone ever used these sights?
If how much difference does it make over standard akm sights?
Also after cleaning do you have to readjust the rear sight?

Somebody really ought to make a 'nutnfancylite' channel and just do <1 minute videos recapping every one from that man. He's got some good info, but I don't have time for a 55 minute review of sight.

Check him on you tube. Takes him 40 minutes to give a 5 minute review.

Seriously though, check out Military Arms Channel on youtube.
Much better, and the reviewer posts on calguns!

Put me down for one LOL. Back to the sight, after zeroing, if you remove the dust cover to clean your gun, i wonder how well it'll hold zero after that? Just a thought.

i dont have one of these(tech sights) but i diffinitley think you will lose zero after taking off dust cover. not by much but just a little. i'll stick with the one that came with my 74, its actually not too bad like everyone else thinks to me at least.

I'm looking at the installation instructions, and it says,
Quote:
The sight base has a tee shaped base that engages
the tee slot on the receivers rear trunion. (See Fig 2). It
also has a tapped hole that allows for an adjustment
screw to take up any excessive side play between the
tee shaped base of the sight and the tee shaped slot of
the trunion.
That sounds pretty solid to me. I'm not familiar with the AK platform, though, so I don't know how solid that particular area of the gun is. Can someone who's actually used an AK weigh in?

I don't remember who told me this, but it works for me: Remember the number 4 and think of the word "FORS", which means: Front, Opposite. Rear, Same.

Translation: Move your Front site Opposite the direction you want the bullet to go. Move your Rear site the Same direction you want the bullet to go.

But it's an AK. Even if it changes POI a little bit, how can you tell on an AK?

Seriously, I HATE the rear sight on my AK and am thinking hard about getting one of these.

I will receive them tomorrow. I bought the adjustable, the ak200s. There is a screw that tightens up the sights so when you clean you should get it back to zero when you put it back together?? I like nut in fancy but man can he draw out a video, I always fast forward to the shooting and skip the narrative. I will be heading to the desert for some shooting and will post a review.

i did some reading/posting on this before. i thought dust-cap based rear sights weren't reliable and can't hold zero? i thought about it before because i don't like my ak's rear sights right now too, but just live with it.
