Default Replacing firing pin on a Mossberg 500A

has anyone replaced a firing pin on a mossberg 500A? It doesn't look that hard to do, a friends shotgun was failing to fire, i broke it down and discovered that he had not cleaned it in what i would say years and with all the muck in there it didn't help, discovered the firing pin was broken in half.

Should be similar enough to the 590. I'm going to go out on the edge and say I'm sure most people haven't disassembled their 500's to that extent.

Replacing the firing pin should be pretty easy. There is a retaining ring held in place by a pin through the bolt.

Might require some fitting, but just as easily might not.
